We had so much fun cooking for another sellout crowd at the Good Farm Fund Winter Feast this year. Winter ingredients are just so wonderful, and I can't believe the abundance of pastured meats, wild mushrooms, winter greens and squash, persimmons, pears, apples, olive oil, cheese, and grains that we have here in Mendocino County. We're so excited for this year's Winter Feast! We love cold-weather food: slow-roasted meat + gravy, roasted winter squash, root vegetables, persimmons, wild mushrooms, all the lush winter greens in season now like baby lettuces and pretty purple mizuna. BARRA of Mendocino Wines is decked out beautifully for the holidays, and it's the perfect time of year to see all of our friends after we've been so busy working all summer! We love cooking with our friends, and were honored to have The Zocalo Collective join us for our events last weekend. Look for their great food at the Friends of Willits Farmer's Market! Pretty salads courtesy Yokayo Roots Farm Seely Farm Stand Green Uprising Farm on Blackberry Bend School of Adaptive Agriculture and Floodgate Farm on Heart Mountain, who get special thanks for going out and picking salad for us even after their farm was heavily damaged in the Grade Fire! Talk about going above and beyond.

Gathering ingredients today for one of our favorite events of the year, A Midsummer Night's Feast: 4th Annual Good Farm Fund Benefit. The proceeds of this event benefit The Good Farm Fund, our favorite volunteer group that works to build the infrastructure of a new food system which supports small farms and food access for all members of our community! Same drill getting ready for an event as usual.... except we're in upstate New York, not California, and we're gathering great local ingredients like Black Diamond Farm apples, Lively Run Chèvre, plus purple carrots, pea shoots, blue hubbard squash and more It might be five degrees outside, but there's still beautiful local produce! If you're in Ithaca, come by the Argos Inn for the best New Year's Eve party in town
