Crazy/Spooky Hair Day!!!
Happy that PG&E has cancelled the PSPS event for now. We will see you tomorrow with spooky/crazy hair for regular distance learning. If all of this has left you blurry eyed, you are not alone, And if you are an outlier without power or with a unique situation for attendance, please contact the office tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.
Dear RVUSD community, We are pleased to announce that the Power Shutoffs for most of our neighborhoods and all of our schools have been canceled. We will have Distance Learning per usual this week. Do not worry about those PSPS packets for now! Thank you!
Due to the PSPS alert from PG&E that affects our district, Matanzas will not hold live instruction on Monday and Tuesday. Please refer to the messages from your classroom teacher as to what to complete for asynchronous learning. If you did not pick up your materials last week, please come to the office and get them. Wednesday will be a regular instruction day ending at 12:00, no enrichment this week. We still have a spirit week and if you are able, please participate and post pictures to our Facebook page. Monday = Spooky/Crazy Hair Day. Tuesday = Twin Day (love to see adults and kids twinning)! Extended Care will still be open at Matanzas. Thank you for your continued understanding and support. Dear RVUSD Families, The PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) from Sunday, October 25 through Tuesday, October 27 will now affect more of our schools and neighborhoods than previously announced. We are expecting the event to alter school learning on Monday and Tuesday only. This shutoff event is now expected to affect Austin Creek, Sequoia, Madrone, Binkley, Whited and RVCS-Sequoia schools. Therefore, if the power shuts off, all students from all school sites will do thei...r learning from their recently distributed PSPS packets. There will be no live instruction on Monday and Tuesday. We will be sending out more information soon regarding when PSPS packets will be collected and also what families can expect instruction to look like on Wednesday. Extended Care: Students in Austin Creek and Sequoia Extended Care programs will report to Spring Creek on Monday and Tuesday. Binkley, Whited and Madrone Extended care students will be housed at Village on Monday and Tuesday. We thank our staff for quickly adjusting plans and spaces to make this possible. We thank all of you for your continued understanding and support. We know that we must continue to keep safety as our number one priority.

One of our teachers asked her students last week about the things that they like about distance learning. Here is their list: 1. We are still learning, but in a safe way. 2. No interruptions when we're trying to do our work.... 3. We get to work on computers! 4. If we want, it's Pajama Day every day. 5. We don't have to walk to school. 6. Turning in assignments is a lot easier. 7. We can learn in a blanket if we want. 8. The chairs at home are more comfortable. 9. We are in school for less time. 10. We get to stay home which is safer and more comfortable. 11. We have extra time for assignments. 12. We can play with slime. 13. We can eat in class. 14. We still have recess and can talk to our friends. 15. Student Council is fun. #perspectiveshift #halfglassfull
