The original ingredients were modified by Spaniards, who passed it generation after generation. Picarones became nationwide famous thanks to our afro-descendant women who mastered the recipe and sold them, with many other desserts, in Lima's streets during the most important religious processions like El Señor de Los Milagros (Lord of Miracles), celebrated in October. A true example of how diversity influenced our culture.
