Our next Newly Diagnosed Meeting is Monday, April 9th at 7pm at the Kiwanis Center in Hermosa Beach. Are you a parent of a newly diagnosed child with autism? This meeting is tailored just for you. Every child on the Autism spectrum is different and every parent has traveled a very different road; what works for one family may not work for another but early intervention can play a vital role in giving your child the best chance at an independent life. LA FEAT believes that n...ewly diagnosed children with autism should receive intensive, quality, effective treatment that is based in research. Applied Behavior Therapy (ABA) is that treatment and no other therapy has come close to the amount of scientific research that supports ABA as an effective treatment for autism and is endorsed by AAP and the US Surgeon General. LA FEAT’s mission is to provide education to families and the community about quality ABA, and to provide support to families in obtaining and funding such treatment. Maria Crawford, LA FEAT Board Member, is an active advocate for families and a parent of a child with autism herself. Maria will give a newly diagnosed presentation and take you step by step through the process from diagnoses to intervention and beyond. After the presentation, we will break into smaller groups to discuss specific situations. Hearing from other parents puts your own journey into perspective and makes those decisions seem less daunting. As always, LA FEAT meetings are free and open to the public. Please RSVP to Maria Crawford at [email protected] before Monday,April 9th.
