2020 ATTENDANCE PSP PAYOUT AUDIT AND RESOLUTION On March 16 an e-mail was sent informing the Alliance employees had received messages about potential errors in the 2020 PSP Last Minute Sick Attendance data which caused the regional LMP, Compensation, and Finance departments to begin an audit of the attendance data and payout calculation. After reviewing the results and having discussions with the Alliance leadership, it was concluded that an error has affected your 2020 PSP p...ayout. Based on the updated PSP data, you will receive a pay adjustment on your April 23 paycheck. There will be an additional line item reflecting the amount owed to you. You will be able to view your payslip via HRconnect on April 21. If you have any questions, please e-mail [email protected]. We will ensure a prompt response to your questions/concerns. SCAL Human Resources and SCAL LMP Attendance apologize for the error and appreciate your patience while they reviewed this matter. ------- Alliance of Health Care Unions - Attendance PSP Award FAQ regarding the 2020 Attendance PSP Payout Audit and Resolution Why was there an error in my PSP payout? Some Alliance employees received an incorrect amount of the PSP incentive pay on the March 12 paycheck due to an error in calculating the Alliance Attendance PSP performance. As a result of the error, employees may have received over or under the accurate PSP payout amount. When will KP correct my bonus payout amount? The organization has recalculated the Alliance Attendance PSP payout amounts. Employees who have been underpaid will receive the additional dollar amount in their April 23 paycheck. What will the corrected amount be when I see my April 23 paycheck? You will receive the difference between the original amount listed in the payout documents on March 3 and the revised payout listed in the new payout chart. (Subtract the original dollar amount from the updated dollar amount to see the total added to your April 23 paycheck.) Why does the updated payout chart show a different amount for those who met stretch compared to the amount shown on the communication shared on March 3? The audit revealed more people earned the stretch goal. This required a recalculation of the pooled dollars. As a result, the adjusted payout pool is smaller and divided among more people. Does the adjusted pool mean that some people may have been overpaid? The Alliance union leaders and Kaiser Permanente are in discussions regarding possible cases of overpayment. How will my payout be adjusted? (Final payout amounts are prorated for those who are not full-time employees.) Employees will receive the difference between their March 12 PSP payout amount and either the REVISED stretch, minimum, OR maximum amount for their medical center area based on individual performance (see attached payout chart). Where will I find the adjusted amount on my payslip? Look for the dollar amount next to PSRetrPerfIncentShr.

We've been fighting this pandemic for nearly one year. With the holiday surge still slowly abating, we hear the same story again and again from the front line: caregivers are facing unprecedented mental health strain. Please take our short survey to let us know how you're doing: https://unacuhcp.formstack.com/forms/mental_health_survey To that end, UNAC/UHCP is sponsoring A.B. 562, authored by California State Assemblymember Evan Low, targeted to address the mental health nee...ds of care providers. We've heard many of you say you're anxious, depressed, traumatized and burnt out. This bill provides for the after effects of COVID-19 that will linger well past this particular virus. We'll keep you updated as we move through the legislative process. While we push for the mental health bill, please take our short survey to let us know how you're doing: https://unacuhcp.formstack.com/forms/mental_health_survey

UNAC/UHCP is pleased to announce the creation of the Alexis G. Philius Scholarship for students of Black/African descent pursuing health care careers. This new scholarship is a welcome community-award addition to our existing scholarship program, which includes the following: Kathy Sackman scholarship for UNAC/UHCP members Sonia Moseley scholarship for families of UNAC/UHCP members... Delima MacDonald community scholarship The new awards are named for Alexis Goudeau Philius, RN, a member of the Kaiser Sunset Registered Nurses affiliate, and the inaugural winner of our Community Service Award in 2018. Philius is the founder of Highly Favored: A Blessing To Others, which supports Angelenos experiencing homelessness with programs such as the annual Backpack Friday hygiene supplies distribution. Five students of Black/African descent will each receive $2,000 to pursue health care careers. The scholarships are for those pursuing a license, certificate, or health care degree at an accredited college, university, trade, or technical school at any time between Jan. 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021. Read our FAQ document for details about this scholarship. Lack of diversity has significant consequences on health outcomes and health equity for patients and communities of color. After researching the gross underrepresentation of Black/African American professionals in the health care industry, UNAC/UHCP created this scholarship to specifically increase students’ access to these fields. Alexis Goudeau Philius, an African American bedside nurse for 13 years, was inspired to make a difference after noticing homeless people on Los Angeles streets during her commute. Her nonprofit organization distributes food, toiletries, clothing, and other supplies. Financial obstacles were identified as the top barrier to success among minority students in a study of minority applicants to nursing programs, while numerous studies document the underrepresentation of Black students across disciplines in health care and the consequences. The need for greater Black representation in health care has never been more apparent than during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which minorities have died at a disproportionately higher rate than non-Hispanic whites. Nearly twice as many Black patients as non-Hispanic white patients are dying from the disease. Philius, who came from a single-parent household, went to nursing school on scholarship: We don’t have that many Black caregivers who work by the bedside. That can make it difficult for marginalized populations. The more we have working, the better the outcomes for patients in Black and other minority populations. Applications are being accepted now.
