Many women come to me feeling overwhelmed by symptoms associated with hormone imbalances. The most common symptoms are unexplained weight gain and inability to lose it no matter what they do. They are not able to sleep, they have hot flashes and night sweats, they have very low energy and feel irritable and/or more anxious than normal. These are just some of the many symptoms I hear about. In my 8 week program I'm able to help them naturally balance their hormones and get the...m losing weight, sleeping much better, free from hot flashes and night sweats and feeling a radiance that they mistakenly thought was lost from aging. I am not an advocate of using hormone replacement therapy (HRT) because I know the dangers of trying to manipulate these powerful chemicals. It is much more effective to naturally restore the glands that produce the hormones. I use food and super foods to accomplish this. You must also get rid of inflammation and stabilize your blood sugar so that the body is no longer in fight or flight. This is also accomplished with food and super foods. Next you must look at filling in deficiencies because all of our glands require vitamins and minerals in order to function normally. Most people are not on the right types of supplements or any at all and this leads to weakened glands. A leaky gut is a lot of times the reason why people are nutrient deficient so a gut repair is sometimes necessary. Remember that hormones are chemicals that are produced by glands in the endocrine system. Hormones travel through the bloodstream to the tissues and organs, delivering messages that tell the organs what to do and when to do it. Hormones are important for regulating most major bodily processes, so a hormonal imbalance can affect a wide range of bodily functions. Hormones help to regulate: metabolism and appetite heart rate sleep cycles reproductive cycles and sexual function general growth and development mood and stress levels body temperature Are you experiencing one or more of the following symptoms? Have you been made to think that carbs are the enemy? Have you developed the notion that you will not lose weight if you eat carbs? Let me break that myth for you... First let me inspire you by sharing that EVERY one of my clients are losing weight.... They all came to me very confused and misinformed thinking that they needed to give up carbs in order to obtain their ideal weight. They are ecstatic now as they are experiencing a completely different reality. They like so many others have been misinformed by all of the fad diets out there that demonize this most necessary and medicinal macronutrient food. Let me explain why carbs are necessary for the right type of healthy weight loss and how they play a key role in your mental and emotional well-being. Every single cell in our body requires glucose for its source of fuel and our brain runs on glucose ONLY for its source of fuel. If we do not give our cells the glucose it needs, the body will become extremely stressed and excrete high levels of cortisol. This will cause the body to go into a state of fight or flight hence store fat and eat itself up. When this happens, a host of issues arise: Adrenal fatigue Thyroid imbalances Weight gain Sleep disorders Anxiety and/or depression and the list goes on We are not talking about eating processed sugar and corn syrup or processed breads and starches. These are unhealthy carbs that cause an inflammatory response and spike the insulin and blood sugar. The ideal carbs that produce fuel that the cells thrive on would be fruits and root vegetables. As healthy as these carbs are however, you need to know the right amount for your current state of metabolic health AND you need to eat them with a protein and a fat. By combining these three macronutrients in the right ratios at the right intervals, you will meet the energy requirements your cells need to thrive, build energy, turn off the stress hormones and slow the breakdown of your food, thus regulating your blood sugar. This is the key to sustained weight loss, more energy, balanced moods and great health long term. I can't tell you how many people come to me with the same frustration of the inability to lose weight no matter what they do. Most of the time they blame it on getting older, menopause, or a damaged metabolism. Another scenario would be my mothers who gained a lot weight during pregnancy and cannot shed those pounds despite all of their efforts. As an example, one of my clients is 33 years old, just had a baby 18 months ago, gained about 45 pounds during pregnancy and finally... reached out to me feeling frustrated and overwhelmed by the changes in her body. Everyone is different as to why they do not lose weight and my job is to carefully assess each person individually and determine the culprits. As for my new mother mentioned above, I discovered that she was overexercising, not eating enough, spiking her blood sugar and was sleep deprived. Additionally, I am discovering some imbalances after doing some functional blood analysis with her. After just four days of implementing my recommendations, she has already lost two pounds. This is how quickly it can happen with the right type of guidance. A lot of my women who are in varying stages of menopause often mistakenly blame it on their fluctuating hormones. Yes it's true that our bodies are more sensitive in this prime time of our lives however, if you know exactly how to approach your nutrition, exercise and balance your chemistry, you will have amazing results and feel the best you've ever felt. I witness it all the time with my clients and it's very exciting to see the transformation that always happens. Stress hormones will cause you to retain weight. When the body is in a state of fight or flight it will store fat. Here is a list of specific common contributing factors why your body stubbornly holds on to fat...
