Congress Approves Spending Bill On December 20, 2019, the president signed into law the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2020 (H.R. 1158), and the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2020 (H.R. 1865) for fiscal year 2020. Important appropriations for nutrition science and practice include increases in spending for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Agency for Health Research and Quality (AHRQ), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the USDA Agriculture Research Service (ARS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
