New Rules on Life Insurance in California. In a recent conversation with a colleague she pointed out to me a major change in the way life Insurance Companies are responsible for paying death claims. To his credit, the new commissioner of Insurance, Dave Jones, enacted a law change that says that all life Insurance companies need to review the social security Death Index each month to see if any of their current policy holders are listed have died in the last month. If in fac...t they have then a letter is generated and sent out to the surviving beneficiaries. Up until January of 2017 it was left up to the beneficiaries to file a claim for a deceased person. So from a consumer protection stand point it has been a fantastic change. Many more individuals will receive the benefits that were intended for them and less need for missed benefits. I experienced a miracle today. When I went to bed last night my thoughts were on many concerns I have right now. Most of which is financial. But I have learned over many years there is a spiritual side to all things. And as I tossed and turned last night thinking about many facets of my financial picture I woke up exhausted from very little sleep.
