JKO Bulletins News September 2020 Dear JKO Members and their families: The Governor of California just announced the re-opening of Gyms and Fitness Centers with indoor classes. JKO Carlsbad Hombu Dojo has been abiding the ruling of the Governor and follows all guidance. These include maintaining social distance between participants and non-contact exercise for Karate-Do practices.... I have been carefully watching the students’ progress, including their physical endurance, flexibility, and Basics. I have seen a stagnation in student’s progress through zoom classes. I highly recommend all participants should attend in person classes at the dojo in order to excel in their karate training. However, if you are concerned with catching COVID-19 even with the Governor opening inside classes and all our precautions, then I suggest for you to continue to take Zoom classes. I also suggest that if you are going to take the Zoom class only, you should run 20 minutes every day. To develop into good Karate-Do practitioners, it is imperative to understand the three elements of Japanese Budo (Martial Arts): Shin (Mind Aspects), Gi (Technical Aspects), and Tai (Physical Aspects). These three elements must develop together and equally. If your development less in one element, then you will be not progress correctly. Shin () Vigor, Proprioception, Concentration, strategy, Gi Correct Basics, Applications, Tai General Physical development, Endurance, Maneuvers, Speed, Power, Jumping, Hayden, Mathis, Ryan, Miuta of 4 o’clock class, since they have changed from Zoom class and New Olivia, Lauren, Ximenus, William, Shota of 5 o’clock class are progressing very fast in the physical and mentally disciplined class. I see Ricky a couple times every week. Lily, Ryan are the best attendance students, staying good shape and practicing many Katas. Adults class on Monday & Wednesday are a great group, Corey, Ray, David, Willie, Mark, Lisa are great supporter to the lunch time class. By the way, if you are joining in the Zoom class with only name. But I don’t see you on the monitor, I don’t know what you are doing. I cannot give you any advises. JKO observes National Holiday on Monday September 7, we celebrate Labor Day weekend. The Dojo will be closed from Saturday, September 5 thru Monday, September 7. Happy Labor Day!
