It goes without sayin that this is what I've been sayin ! This article does not divulge which Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC's) these hospitals are being fined for, but dollars to donuts pressure injuries are near the top of the list. The penalties are based on pre-Covid data. Since 2017, the AHRQ reported that Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries were the only HAC that was increasing, up by 6%.

A lot of people ask me why I am so obsessed about this work . Its a big issue that basic nursing care at the bedside is becoming less and less accessible in American healthcare. The worst outcome of the problem is a steady rise in pressure injury incidence and prevalence.... It is not going to be an easy problem to solve, but we have to do it. Most of my clients tell me they were never told how to turn and reposition for pressure injury prevention. Nor were they told what supplies and equipment to use for best results, and which to avoid. Most importantly, they were never told how and where to get more information. So I wrote these discharge instructions for any caregiver to use as a template for providing written teaching for pressure injury prevention and management. It is meant to complement the "How to Stop Be...dsores" pamphlet, so that the discharging clinician can have a quick and efficient teaching tool that provides patient specific instructions and information. Hi Everyone, A client of mine asked for a quick video of how to place a woundVac. No better place to go for that than the Vac people themselves; KCI. They make it look easy but at least its got the basics. I wish they had shown how to window pane. I think it makes a big difference to minimizing periwound skin irritation. We got second place!!! Sorry it took so long to announce the results but anyway thanks to everyone for all you well wishes and support. Getting second place is ...like not winning the Super Bowl I think. (Not that I know what that feels like) but anyway it was a great run and we’re real proud.
