Painting is weird.. or I am. A 6’ by 4’ painting available to the world now.

This is the sister piece to the commissioned Japanese moonrise ll piece I just finished. My piece doesn’t say anything but this piece is an actual Japanese character. It’s about 36 T by 30 W.. it’s all steel w/ a matte finish. This all stemmed from Judy of @fireandraingalleries showing my work and being an advocate for artists.

I made the original version of this called Japanese moonrise and placed it in an art gallery in Folsom @fireandraingalleries then time went by and a client loved it but didn’t have room for the original size. So Judy the owner of the gallery reached out and asked if I could make another in a smaller size.. yes I think I can.. here is Japanese moonrise ll thanks Judy!

My best friend Rene Sanchez runs a business where he teaches self defense and gun safety. He has a Facebook page called Fight and Right 24/7 He has been teaching my kids self defense for a few months and they love it. He was born to be a teacher. He is kind, clear, patient, and knows his topic. He has studied, practiced and coached martial arts, fighting, and wrestling for most of his life. Anyway as a trade for his services I made and installed this pergola for him and his family. His wife Cheryl picked out the design and I did the rest. It’s Douglas fir, stained with custom steel brackets.

Here is the sculpture out of the rubble with the names of the donors engraved into the foundation for the Folsom powerhouse ministries project @phmfolsom. This marks the completion of my part of this project. The names are engraved using @dremel. Huge shout out and so much gratitude for Josh @joshpaullevine and Nancy @nancy_l_atchley for reaching out and being so easy to work with!
