Let your local representatives know that you support AB 104. How’s distance learning going? Are your children meeting their goals and progressing through the academic work? Some students will do well enough to move on to the next grade level but many others will not. I’m joining Lorena Gonzales D-San Diego and advocating for parents to have the choice in the Fall to hold their child back and repeat the grade if they feel it’s necessary in order to gain the skills needed to be successful.

COPAA Weekly December 8, 2020 COPAA Makes Recommendations to Biden Education Transition Team... COPAA CEO Denise Marshall and policy advisor Laura Kaloi met with the Biden Education Transition Team to make recommendations for the first 100-day agenda that the team is charged with developing at the U.S. Department of Education. To reinforce the need to better support states and districts in implementing federal special education law, COPAA emphasized the need to help states and districts provide FAPE and promote the family-school collaboration, especially during COVID. COPAA also provided a formal set of recommendations focused on Access & Civil Rights, Funding, and School Climate. Several of COPAA’s priorities intersect directly with goals outlined by the Biden-Harris campaign including, investing in children from birth, directing resources to public schools so that educators have the tools to support students’ social, emotional, and academic success, and fully funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
