On November 30th at 7:00 p.m. the Bakersfield College Choirs will present a virtual concert entitled "Becoming Us". The concert will air on YouTube Premium and features the BC College Choir, Chamber Singers, and Renegade Chorus. Special guest artists include BC voice instructors: Caley Mayhall, Christina Parnell, and Ken Burdick along with renowned flutist, Tracy L. Harris. The concert includes composers such as Abby Betinis, Sydney Guillaume, Andrea Ramsey, Craig Hella Johnson, Troy Robertson, Marc Kaplan and Colin Britt, and more. We hope you will join us for an evening of exploring the challenges we have faced in the last 8 months and how adversity can help us to become the people we were meant to be--people that can bring the world together.

The Reneg...ade Chorus is a newer choir at BC and we are looking to recruit many more singers. The RC performs at community events, concerts, and with the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra. One more shameless plug for our amazing new choir at Bakersfield College: the Renegade Chorus! We are looking for tenor and bass voices to join us this Fall sem...ester. We meet on Thursday's from 4:10-6:00 p.m. and for right now that is over zoom. We are anxious for the day we can sing physically side by side, but we are moving forward this semester and will focus on our musicianship, service, self empowerment, and yes we will participate in our virtual concert on November 6! Instrumental Music is going strong at BC! With Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble and Combos, Marching Arts, and Applied Music there is something for everyone. Our ensembles are open to all students and you don't have to be a music major to participate!

I cannot think of anyone who deserves an award such as this more than Tim Heasley. He is truly an example of dedication, talent, sacrifice, selflessness, organization, and love for what he does and who he does it with. I am so honored to call him a friend and colleague. Congratulations Tim!

The Bakersfield College Choir is the largest choral ensemble on the Bakersfield College campus. Even though times are challenging with the pandemic the BC College Choir is determined to continue bringing light to the members of the choir, college, and community through the medium of music. We hope many will join us on Monday and Wednesday from 1-2:25 this semester. It will be a time of strengthening each other, building our musicianship, and finding ways to share our music.
