What is Hyrdroquinone? #Hydroquinone is a common ingredient used in skincare products to help lighten the skin and fade discolorations. It works by inhibiting the process in which melanin is produced. ... While hydroquinone has been cleared by the F.D.A. and has proven to be extremely effective in lightening hyperpigmentation, it is not universally considered safe. Many countries outside the U.S. have banned the ingredient due to its potential cancerous effects and possible causing of ochronosis(darkening) of the skin with long term usage. If you’re still on the fence about using hydroquinone and are looking for a safer and less irritating alternative, there are a number of skincare products that contain naturally and synthetically produced melanin inhibitors that can be just as effective in lightening hyperpigmentation. These are some of my faves: Biolumin-C Serum by @dermalogica ; contains Lactic Acid & Ascorbic Acid Rapid Reveal Peel by @dermalogica ; contains Lactic Acid & Phytic Acid Retinol Acne Clearing Oil by @dermalogica ;contains Retinol Mandelic/Lactic Serum by @ayurmedicofficial ; contains Lactic Acid Glycolic & Retinol Pads by @skinscriptrx ; contains Arbutin, Kojic Acid, and Retinol Pigment Gel HQ Free by @pcaskin ; contains Kojic Acid & Lactic Acid . . . . . #darkspots #unevenskintone #discoloration #hyperpigmentationtreatment

Are you suddenly breaking out due to wearing a protective face mask? The good news is, you’re not alone, many people are struggling with Face Mask Acne. Wearing face masks for long periods of time, creates the perfect environment for bacteria to grow within our pores. The heat and moisture from our breath, sweat, and oil all trapped underneath the mask coupled with the deprivation of oxygen to that area of the skin, is acne causing bacteria’s paradise. There are however, mi...nor things you can do, in addition to your normal skincare routine, to reduce your chances of having those pesky pimples pop up after wearing your face mask. Make sure to thoroughly cleanse your skin before putting on your face mask. Apply a lightweight water-based moisturizer to the area of the skin underneath your mask. Take some cotton pads, saturate them with your favorite toner, and keep them in a little plastic bag to take with you. After washing and sanitizing your hands, use the pads to wipe the area clean when you’re feeling hot or sweaty throughout the day. Be sure to do this in an area where you can safely remove your mask and are away from others. Don’t apply products that contain occlusive ingredients like petrolatum to the areas of the skin underneath your mask. Use products that contain an oxygen source, such as benzoyl peroxide, to help eliminate bacteria growth within the follicles of the skin. Don’t apply face make-up to the area of the skin covered by your face mask. If you’re using a cloth mask, be sure to use gentle laundry detergent with each wash. Irritants in detergent can cause contact dermatitis. #wearamask #facemaskacne

If you’re like me and still a bit leery about venturing out, using my Stay at Home Facial Kit is the perfect way to take care of your skin, in the safety and comfort of your own home. Many people struggle with back acne, including myself when I was a teenager. It can make you feel embarrassed and keep you from wearing that cute sleeveless top or even going the beach or the pool. If you’ve ever felt insecure about your back acne or bacne for short, I’m here to tell you there’s a way to fix it. Getting regular #bacne facials is a great way to treat it, but even just by making these small changes at home, you can significantly reduce the appearance of your back acne and chest acne as well.

Enjoy a specialty mask in the 90 Minute Signature Facial. Pictured is the @dermalogica Contour Masque, not only does it have an amazing cooling sensation to calm redness and irritation, but it also helps to tighten and firm the skin. I love to apply a serum or oxygen treatment before the mask, so when it hardens, it really pushes the products into the skin. Be sure to book your facial today!!

Using @skinscriptrx blueberry enzyme under steam, helps to brighten the skin, minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, and loosen up congestion. I apply a thin layer to the face, neck and décolletage and let it sit until it really begins tingle. Book a 60 or 90 minute Signature Facial with me today to experience this amazing treatment!

It’s true that when ingested in moderation, this potent polyphenol antioxidant has been known to help prevent blood clotting, and reduce swelling and inflammation in the body. But did you know, that when applied topically, Resveratrol can combat skin cell degradation, stimulate collagen production and reduce redness and sensitivity in the skin. So take it easy on the wine and focus on those serums, although, where’s the fun in that! Make-Up, Hair Care Products and Laundry Detergents are a few examples of products that can lead to breakouts. To treat acne cosmetica, remember to regularly change your linens, thoroughly cleanse around the hairline, and wash your makeup brushes ( I know grueling). . . . . .... #esthetician #losangelesesthetician #smoothskin #selfcare #aesthetician #womeninbusiness #skinhealth #blackesthetician #unevenskintone #hyperpigmentation #dryskin #facial #acne #skin #pimples #skincare #skincareroutine
