You can now opt in to an app that alerts you if you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for Covid19. People may find this app useful not only in determining if they should get tested, but also as justification for testing, if you live in an area where testing is only offered to those with symptoms or who have definitely been exposed. ILRCSF does not endorse this app - we share this information so that members of the community can determine for themselves if... they want to opt-in to the app. The following is information we received about the app: Californians can now opt-in to CA Notify to receive COVID-19 notifications informing them if they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for the virus. With that information, they can make responsible decisions around quarantine and testing, which is essential for stopping the surge. If you opt-in and get a positive test result, you will receive a code via text message from the California Department of Public Health. Californians must opt-in to use it. The app is available through the Google Play Store on Android devices or through iOS settings on their Apple devices. No location data or personally identifiable information is ever collected, stored or transmitted. The more people use the app, the more quickly we can stop the surge and save lives. Every day we can alert others of a possible exposure is a day that a possibly infectious person can begin quarantine and reduce the spread. For more information about CA Notify, visit www.canotify.ca.gov.

This is good news! Playgrounds in SF WILL be open. I know those of you with kids have been incredibly patient, considering all the restrictions. Giving kids outdoor time is not only good for them, but it gives parents some breathing room. If you do take your kids to play outside, please remember: masks are a MUST, and regular hand-washing is vital!

Today, Mayor London N. Breed and Director of Health Dr. Grant Colfax held a press conference to announce San Francisco and other Bay Area Counties are opting into the State’s Regional Stay at Home Order that Governor Newsom announced yesterday for regions with less than 15% capacity in ICU beds. Although San Francisco and the Bay Area have not yet met that threshold, the City in partnership with Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara and City of Berkeley, is preemptively i...mplementing these restrictions in an effort to flatten the curve of COVID-19 cases, which continue to surge, and prevent hospitals from being overrun across the region. This Health Order is expected to be in effect through January 4, 2021. San Franciscans have, by and large, been great about Covid19 restrictions. We know it's hard, but we all need to do this. Do not make unnecessary trips to areas where you'll be near other people who are not from your household. When you DO go outside, wear a mask, keep a 6' distance between you and others. Keep your hands away from your face, and wash your hands often and thoroughly. You all know the drill. Lots of us have never stopped it, since March 16th. Let's keep SF the safest city in America, when it comes to Covid19!

Superfest is around the corner! If you've never checked out the offerings in this great film festival, which focuses on films by and about people with disabilities, this might be the perfect year to change that. It's completely virtual this year - watch from the comfort of your own home. The cost? It's a sliding scale, which means pay what you can. While we encourage folks to pay what they can, no one should feel they have to skip Superfest because they can't pay. If you truly can't pay, the cost of admission is $0. This is traditionally one of the MOST accessible events there is, and certainly the most accessible film festival we've ever encountered. Enjoy!

Have you filled out the census? Fill it out right now! It's easy! Image: Why is it important for the disability and senior communities? The census has identifie...d people with disabilities and older people as a hard to count population. If we are undercounted, it could mean programs for our community are cut.
