Quick update. Everyone is returning back home today. It's a total of 90,000 residents and their pets. No shelters were evacuated and no rescuers were affected that we know of. The shelter is housing pets for people who were evacuated and couldn't care for them so all of those animals will be headed back home to their families. This is all really good news! Thank you to everyone who supported Orange County during this time. Your prayers and love were felt by many! It was amazi...ng seeing communities come together quickly to support us all. If anyone pet's got loose during the evacuation please let us know and we can cross post to find them for you. We have many people who can help search. We are here to help! There are two firefighters still struggling to stay alive after being critically burned protecting us. Prayers to their families and strength to these two brave heroes. With gratitude. David H.

Just a little update. We are all safe. The fire has burned more than 13,300 acres and is 25% contained. Two firefighters remain hospitalized with second- and third-degree burns. We are hoping they can pull through! Many of you were worried about the Irvine Animal Care Center but they are not evacuated and they are all safe. The shelter is taking in pets of people who are evacuated for those with no options. The shelter is doing amazing work. None of the rescues we work with a...re in danger. We have many friends close to the blaze. The blaze has burned 11,000 acres and was just 5% contained. Foster needed ASAP for this neglected puppy whose family abandoned him in a home when they moved out unexpectedly. He roamed a neighborhood for weeks before being rescued. Rest In Peace Sweet Jeff It has been a really tough week for my friends at DDRRR. Jeff never found his forever home but he did have an amazing foster. This why foster are heros. They loved Jeff when no one else would. Jeff was found in Mexico right on the border. DDRRR brought him to Dallas, Texas last September. Jeff was skin and bones. Jeff was skinny and also had cancerous lumps throughout his body that we removed. ... He was a good boy with corks but thats why he was loved so much! Jeff was an older fellow who had a rough life but rescuers made his last year great! Jeff we all love you, you are pain free now buddy! You all have been such a huge warrior for Journey and I am so sorry that I don't have better news. He passed away in the arms of his rescue momma. The neglect was just too much for his body to take and Dallas Dog RRR had to make the most dreaded decision pet parents have to make. And they held Journey tight and said goodbye. The heartache is immeasurable. They dedicated everything to saving him, to giving him the chance to survive what was done to him.
