A rare model, one of 5 BG-3's built between 1934-37, saved from uncertain future. A running and driving on ranch with air brakes. Needs cab wood work and TLC to be road worthy.

I'm humbled and taken back by this news. Carl was a true inspiration. Helpful in advice and immeasurable experience. I'm sure he worked doing what he loved as long as he could. Good personal visits with him at the MTM, auction and 'picking site' and our collection near Lake Isabella will never be forgot. It was just last October Carl and I talked about our newly acquired Mack AB basket case. Rest in Peace my friend....

I picked up this Four Wheel Drive Auto Company better know as FWD model HR truck on Jan 1, 2017 near Goldendale, WA. A good solid example of a FWD product before product line changes and economy of manufacture took its toll. This is one of two FWD trucks in the collection from a company that truly pioneered all wheel drive vehicles. Oshkosh Trucks would start later from one of the original FWD founders.

Early factory of similar model Walter. Note drive mechanism. A variation of the very early Nash Quad design.

One of a handful of older 20's Walter trucks that exist. This 1926 Walter required arranging transport from Vermont, a record distance for us. It was saved from being cut up for scrap by the prior. History has it being used to clear trolley tracks of snow in Troy New York. It was equipped with front and center scraping plows that was operated by hand wheels. Interestingly the hydraulic dump box was manufactured by Mack. Truck is considered to have a 5 ton carrying capacity. Walter was a truly innovative company is the 4 wheel drive mechanism, very much unlike the competition featuring low unsprung weight, positive locking front, rear and center frame mounted differentials along with portal driven axles. The saying goes, "no truck built like a Walter"
