The lovely and talented Ingrid Bergman was born on this day in 1915. She passed away on her birthday in 1982. The Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Award-winning actress has starred in many great films, but we’ll always remember her as Ilsa Lund in Casablanca.

A great shot of Humphrey Bogart participating in a sailing race at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. Bogie loved sailing, and he spent almost every weekend on the water. He was a very accomplished sailor, and won several races while captaining his Santana yacht.

The Big Sleep premiered in Atlantic City on this day in 1946. Starring Humphrey Bogart as private detective Philip Marlowe and Lauren Bacall as Vivian Rutledge, this masterful film noir continues to mesmerize and confuse people to this day. Based on the great Raymond Chandler novel of the same name and directed by Howard Hawks, this was the second of four films Bogie and Bacall made together.

We’ve spent our day reflecting on the amazing life and wonderful legacy of Lauren Bacall, who passed away in New York City on this day in 2014.

Happy 230th Birthday to the U.S. Coast Guard! Humphrey Bogart served in the Navy during WWI. He tried to re-enlist during WWII, but was too old. He then volunteered for the Coast Guard and served by patrolling the California coast with his yacht, the Santana.

We were saddened to learn that Sonia Darrin, who went toe to toe with Humphrey Bogart in The Big Sleep, passed away in New York City on July 19. She gave a great interview to film critic Lou Lumenick in 2016.

We have lost a true Classic Hollywood icon. The legendary Olivia de Havilland has died in Paris at age 104. The two-time Oscar winner and Gone With the Wind star successfully fought the studio system in the 1940s. She is seen here with Humphrey Bogart in London accepting the 1953 Picturegoer Awards for best actor and best actress.

While we can’t celebrate #NationalHotDogDay at a ballpark yet, we’re still excited to see MLB Opening Day on television tomorrow!
