2020 mugs have landed!!!! - drawn by in-house genius, Laura Corsiglia! https://birdallyx.net/our-annual-mugs-celebrating-the-past/
It’s a nice thing to remove a hawk’s wing splint 16 days after he was admitted for multiple ulnar fractures and catch him flying when deliver his evening rat. Healing is one of the wonderful mysteries that happen daily everywhere.
This was an excellent Fox Sparrow release. Caught by a house cat (of course) this adult male spent over a week in our care on antibiotics, recovering. At first too weak to fly, after several days he was zooming around his flight space at breakneck speed. It was time to go. Here he offers final words of wisdom to his human caregivers that sounds a lot like I never ever want to see your face (mask)again!
Our 2020 Holiday card and year end appeal will be in your mailbox soon if youre on our mailing list, or you can see it here! https://birdallyx.net/happy-holidays-from-bird-ally-x/
If I had a photo of this view walking along with a dipnet every time it happened I’d need a couple terabytes of storage
After crashing onto land during a mid-November rainy night, this Bufflehead needed a couple of weeks to recover. Today she was finally ready to go, so we took her to the Arcata Marsh where many other Bufflehead were already enjoying the every day holiday of wild freedom. As she left the box and hit the water running she offered no gratitude to us, but she sure seemed thankful for the ever increasing distance she was putting between us! And we are very thankful for your support over the days, weeks and years. You make our work possible!
Thanks Gisèle for the Holiday pie! Pie and wildlife rehabilitation. Two reasons to be thankful
