In 1953, now 67 years ago we see here the great German Master Herr Otto Lörke riding 'Adular' at the age of 72. It is often thought that the German riding style... is very strong and hard. Herr Lörke was able to ride in his own very individual way his horses very light and as a mater of fact he was as much Master of the "légèrte" as Nuno Olivera, Phillip Karl and many other modern riders. Lörke was called in Germany the Meistermacher, which means as much, that he was as a teacher and trainer able to produce many Olympic horses and the riders that were his adepts reached very high levels of horsemanship and even gold medals. During the time he worked at the cavalry school in Hannover before WWII, he had always a small pen-knife in his pocket and were ever he saw a pair of draw reins hanging around in the tack-or saddle rooms, he cut these in small pieces and let the person who found those pieces of leather laying around on the floor wonder... He did not ride his horses with his hands, but only with his seat... Lörke was very strict and almost pedantic in his seat corrections He never wrote a book, but said to his pupils fait come moi (look at me and try to discover the art yourself ) See more
