Today is International Day for Street Children. Every child deserves to have the same access to resources no matter where they live. Our work with Promises2Kids Casa de Amparo and SBCS has been so meaningful because of the impact it had on children who were able to get help accessing necessities. #internationaldayforstreetchildren #homelessnessawareness #charity #nonprofit #donate #community #sandiegogrants #endhomelessness #awareness #support #volunteer #donate #dogood #support #hunger #care #CARES #BUILDS #WORKS

Shout out to Brookfield Residential Adrian Foley and AvalonBay Communities Mark Janda, both HomeAid board members, for sharing their insights regarding CSR during this year's San Diego Cause Conference. Great session that dives into how COVID has impacted corporate giving programs and what corporations are doing to help stabilize communities in need. #CSR #corporategifting #COVID19

#HomeAidSD ‘CareKits’ is a community outreach initiative that brings together donors and volunteers to create and distribute ‘CareKits’ to homeless individuals and families. The ‘CareKits’ are reflective cinch backpacks for the homeless that are filled with essential hygiene products, water, food items, socks, and 2-1-1 resource cards that connect them to available services throughout the county. A kit is much more than the amenities inside it’s about pro...viding hope and a hand up. #stepup #endhomelessness #homes4all #homeaidsandiego See more

Hawthorne Veteran's Resource Center Groundbreaking: February 11, 2015 | Grand Opening: October 7, 2015 Service Provider: Interfaith Community Services Population Served: Veterans... Builder Captain: Johnson & Jennings General Contracting Beds: 32 Interfaith Community Services purchased a building in Escondido, California, that was renovated to provide 32 beds for homeless veterans for 30-90 day recuperative care after their hospitalization. A total of 20 recuperative care beds for both men and women veterans, along with case management will be created. The additional 12 beds are for nonveteran homeless discharged from the hospital. The Groundbreaking was in February 2015 and HomeAid San Diego provided Construction Management services pro bono. The project team of Ware Malcomb architects and Johnson & Jenning Contractors completed plans and submitted to the City of Escondido for a building permit. Demolition was completed in March 2015 and construction renovations completed by the end of September 2015. HomeAid San Diego provided a check in the amount of $10,000 to Interfaith from a grant through The Bank of America Charitable Foundation. The Grand Opening Ceremony was October 7 , 2015, with all 32 beds occupied shortly thereafter. Interfaith Community Services is one of 5 agencies in the country certified by the VA to provide this type of after surgery care to veterans. HomeAid San Diego succeeded in bringing in almost $500,000 worth of donations of professional services, labor and materials to this project, with 31 of the 45 subcontractors donating or discounting their services. All total there was over $1M of construction costs reduced by the team members of this project: HomeAid San Diego, Interfaith Community Services, and Johnson & Jennings Contractors. #stepup #endhomelessness #homes4all #HomeAidSanDiego See more

The key to HomeAid’s success is leveraging in-kind donations of building materials and the labor of professional builders well beyond the cash donations that are received for the housing project. Through our industry contacts and the contributions of in-kind donations from building partners, HomeAid multiplies the effect of every cash dollar received two-to-three fold. In terms of return on investment (ROI) and increasing the retail value... of our finished housing projects, the HomeAid model remains unparalleled in the non-profit world. The fruit of our labor is housing the homeless population in communities where we work and live, and enabling greater self-sufficiency for homeless families and individuals. #stepup #endhomelessness #homes4all #HomeAidSanDiego See more
