Music, refreshments, dancing, and rallying together to kick-off our annual Shimmy-Pop-a-Thon fundraiser, in support of MISSSEY (Motivating, Inspiring, Supporting & Serving Sexually Exploited Youth). This event is FREE and open to all. You get an exclusive audience with MISSSEY leadership, a chance to connect with other service-oriented folks, and expert support setting up your fundraising page if ya want it. Last year, we raised $20,000 for MISSSEY more than $5,000 over ...our goal. Let's do $25,000 this year! MISSSEY is a community based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of providing supportive services to youth who are victimized by or vulnerable to commercial sexual exploitation. They work with other organizations and the public to advocate for youth and to spread awareness about this terrible epidemic. Commercial sexual exploitation, also known as sex trafficking, is an egregious human rights violation that involves the continuous abuse and rape of vulnerable people for profit. Exploitation often manifests as a form of gender-based violence against women and girls and continues to be an epidemic impacting Oakland and the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
