Jenny Redford Pilates Movement 29.04.2021

New space (remarkably similar and close to the old). Less than 6 weeks to go with this pregnancy (). Studio updates coming next week via email (there just may be some virtual offerings before my official maternity leave). I had great plans for sharing so much prenatal material this go around but nothing about this year has been predictable. And so as we’ve all done, I’ve improvised and done my best to keep life moving. I’m so excited to get back to a regular teaching schedule after this girl makes her debut. And lockdown/no lockdown there will be plenty more virtual classes and workshops in the future.

Next week I’ll be here on IG Live talking about what I’m doing this third pregnancy and what I would tell my first-time-mama-self. We’ll talk about pregnancy after POP and DR and really how pregnancy can be a great time to get in tune with your body. I’ll also be offering one or two special NEST essential classes this month before I start easing into my maternity leave (a bit earlier than planned with a move thrown in the mix). Taking life as it comes.

Filling my world with beautiful things and doing my best to continue to send out beauty and good into the world around me. I recently listened to @ebbirth discuss how impressionable pregnant women are to input, whether that’s positive or negative and that the language used surrounding birth can impact the amount of fear or confidence a woman has going into it. Just something I found interesting as I prep for this birth with the world feeling especially turbulent. Giving myself permission to consume media in a way that is smart and supportive. If you’re looking for more movement, join me tues/thurs/sat (mamas/mamas/all bodies) and tomorrow I’m sharing a special workshop for expectant and new mothers. Learn guidelines for safe movement, how to modify your favorite workout, and how to get back into exercise. Details in stories. xx

Come escape with me through movement with confidence in the good you’re doing for your body. June schedule coming soon. #prenatalpilates #postpartumpilates

Of my three full-time, in-house clients, he’s by far the most compliant.

I haven’t figured out if it’s a side effect of pregnancy or slowing down, but I had a conversation today about the value of surrendering and allowing my body to be exactly where it is while simultaneously being vigilant about doing the work. I’m working everyday, where I am, with the body I have and and doing the things I know will make a difference in my quality of life, today and later. I don’t always feel inspired and motivated. There are things beyond my control. But I know what I need to do today and I’m doing them. to the women who keep showing up in class and for distance sessions. I know you’re juggling and life feels upside down, but WE DOING THIS. #yassmama #prenatalpilates #postnatalpilates

Tomorrow! My girl + perinatal movement specialist, @jacquelyn_brennan and I will be live here answering your pregnancy and postpartum questions at 5pm PST. Even in normal circumstances, there are a lot of things that can be glossed over or never communicated. And so especially during uncertain times, we want to make sure you get the support you need for the best experience and recovery possible. Send your questions via DM and we’ll see you tomorrow! #prenatalexercise

Missing rolling back like this so much. Is there anything better? Overall I’m finding this pregnancy to be more difficult in about every way than my first two. So, I’m being really consistent in the things I know will support my body now and prepare me to recover well after. And I’m accepting that’s all that I can do and all that I need to do. I’ve been loving teaching some of you expectant mamas while I’m expecting. It has been really special. If you haven’t joined a streaming class yet, this week’s schedule is in my stories. Pre/Post/All Level options. Come move with me. #prenatalpilates

Working out the kinks. Because pregnancy seems to bring on all the kinks. It’s boring but necessary work. I’m just shy of 19 weeks so I’m still comfortable on my back. This set up does so much good stuff for the feet, knees, and hips - and is a go to for SI joint funkiness.

By far, one of my favorite ways to warm up a pregnant body and get some freedom in the side body - so important for mamas. And I can tell you all about why... My full 9 hr perinatal workshop begins this Saturday via zoom. I really wanted to create a positive opportunity during this time so I’m giving deep discounts for referrals and am happy to work with you if needed. Lots more info in my highlights, registration and course details on my website (linked).

We live is such a great time when there is more perinatal support and are more resources available than ever before. But we still have a long way to go. I immersed myself in women’s health issues after feeling like the rug had been pulled out from under me with my second pregnancy, dealing with things that no one talks about. I had done everything right. But the truth was that so much regarding fitness and women’s health issues during pregnancy wasn’t/isn’t readily availabl...e. And so I’ve spent the past five years creating my own philosophy and curriculum based on the best stuff I’ve collected from the research, leaders in the field, and my own experience. There’s so much out there that it’s hard to know what’s actually valuable and effective... I’ve sifted through a lot. And I’ve wanted to do a more comprehensive workshop for a while now. So since I’m desperate for some human interaction and feel compelled to continue sharing this work through this strange time, I’m offering this live virtual workshop. Begins this Saturday 4/11. In light of current economic realities I’m offering 50% off for you and a friend (or two or three) when you refer them. This is a pretty loose rule so spread the word and let’s come together to feel more confident working with perinatal clients. Swipe for details. Head to my website to register. See more

Today at noon PDT I’m walking through a (hypothetical) prenatal/postpartum session explaining all the whys. While every client is so different and pregnancy/postpartum differ, there are some universal principles I prioritize, movement I always take time for, and some things I’m always watching for. There is so much information out there (and honestly, a lot of it is not as accurate or helpful as it could be or it’s just overwhelming) so I’m hoping to share some really practical ways to both work with perinatal clients and manage your own body. It should be really fun. Come hang on IG Live for an hour or so! #prenatalpilates #postpartumpilates #perinatalcorrectiveexercisespecialist
