Leave your hair alone for 1 week after getting the silver so that it can recover and replenish any lost oils. If you wash your hair immediately after coloring your hair, then you risk dryness or breakage. 2-Use color-safe shampoos and conditioners. Focus the shampoo on your roots and scalp, and the conditioner on the mid-lengths ...and ends of your hair. 3-Deep-condition your hair 1 to 2 times a week with hair masks. Choose a mask meant for color-treated hair. 4-Use cool water to wash and rinse your hair. Hot water is very damaging to hair, and even more so on dyed hair. Also cause hair color to fade faster. You can make hair color last longer by using cool to lukewarm water to wash it. 5-Limit washing your hair to once or twice per week. Gray hair dye fades faster than most, so the less often you wash your hair, the longer your color will stay. 6-Limit the heat styling to keep your hair healthy and the color vibrant. Let your hair air dry whenever possible, and learn to embrace your hair's natural texture. Heat styling not only damages hair, but it can cause your hair color to fade faster. 7-Use a low heat setting when you do heat-style your hair. This includes hair dryers, curling irons, and flat irons. 8-Always use a heat protectant when heat-styling your hair. Apply the heat protectant to your hair while it is still wet. 9-Use purple color-depositing shampoos if you notice yellow tints in your hair, and silver or gray shampoo when the color starts to fade. 10- If you swim make sure you wet your hair and apply moisturizer cream before you go in the pool of the ocean, when hair is wet it doesn’t absorb any more water vs when it’s dry. 11- all care products or styling products has to be clear or white only because at the silver stage color the hair can be very stainable. 12- Get a toning service at the salon when you feel the purple shampoo isn’t helping with the yellow or brassiness. @behindthechair_com @modernsalon @saloncentric See more
