Today we celebrate World Gratitude Day! Did you know that by expressing what we are grateful for, we reap many benefits, including lessening stress, improving our sleep, experiencing fewer physical problems, less regular visits to the doctor, and living longer lives by an average of seven years! 2020 has been a rough year as we all are well aware of. When we count our blessings, we interrupt the cycle of negative and fearful thoughts, which allows the stress system in our b...odies to recover. According to research, when we are thankful, we love our lives and want to make sure we stick around long enough to enjoy them! Also, when receiving praise from others, our brain releases the chemical dopamine, which encourages us to do more to receive such praise. Which in turn makes us want to thank others and make them feel good as well! So go forth, let those in your life how thankful you are for them! It's good for your well being!
