In honor of International Men’s Week, we will be highlighting faculty and staff on campus. Meet Dr. Caio Sarmento Dr. Caio Sarmento is an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at California State University, Fresno. He received his Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Sarmento has practiced physical therapy for over 10 years around the world including Brazil, England, and Japan. One of the greatest contribut...ions he had to Fresno State was being able to develop a virtual anatomy learning platform, where students were able to transition face to face classes to virtual online learning. Dr. Sarmento stated, Though it was a tough challenge, the outcome was very rewarding. Dr. Sarmento views a positive role model as someone who sees opportunities in challenges. Meet Joe Guerra Mr. Guerra is an Academic Success Counselor for the TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSSP) at Fresno State. He is from Kingsburg, CA and grew up farming with his family. He later found his interest in college and was a first-generation student. Mr. Guerra received a B.A. in Social Work from San Jose State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Sant...a Clara University. He was recognized for helping students succeed academically and earned an award for the advisor of the year at Fresno State. A positive role model to Mr. Guerra is, someone who truly cares and listens, friendly, smiles, confident, empathetic, and someone accepting of all persons. Happy International Men’s Day! In honor of International Men’s Week, we will be highlighting faculty and staff on campus. Meet Dr.Travis Cronin Dr. Cronin is an Assistant Professor and a B.A. program coordinator in the Department of Social Work at Fresno State. He was highly involved in the committees at Fresno State. In the Department of Social Work Education, he is the chair of the undergraduate committee. Dr. Cronin currently represents the Department of Social Work Ed...ucation as a senator on the Academic Senate. He contributes to Fresno State by creating a reasonable and accessible space, where students can be authentic and have open conversations. Dr.Cronin has a positive influence on his students. He sees a role model as, a person who provides an example of how to navigate particular situations, someone who I want to model my behavior after.
