MISLED J Squared Productions presents MISLED, a powerful drama inspired by the true story of a young man’s desperate struggle to hold his family together in the rough inner city of Detroit. Starring, co-written and produced by Detroit native Jonathan Stanley, MISLED is based largely on Stanley’s life, including the perilous choice he was forced to make after dropping out of high school. The film also stars Sammy Sheik (American Sniper, "Lone Survivor) Natalie Avital (Cr...iminal Minds), and Matt Lockwood (Answer This) MISLED is the feature directorial debut of Scott Baldyga whose background includes writing (Frozen, Vanguard Press) composing (Spike Lee / MTV) and casting (The Patriot). Baldyga also co-wrote, produced, and composed for the film. MISLED follows the story of Jason, struggling to support his mother and determined to rise above the grind of the southwest Detroit ghetto where he was born. In dire straits, Jason turns to something previously unthinkable: stripping, which leads him down the darkest path and threatens the first real love he’s ever known. Testing the limits of Jason's family allegiance is his delinquent brother Bobby, who keeps spiraling downward as a horrible childhood secret they share starts to re-emerge. This thought provoking drama shines a light on one account of true poverty in America which crosses the boundaries of race, color and creed. The extreme measures faced by the siblings in MISLED compels the question, What would you do to save your family? MISLED was filmed entirely in Detroit and was awarded a financial incentive by the Michigan Film Office.
