[ Save this Post!] The Gut-Hormone Connection The Gut.What a mysterious place. Filled with bacteria, food, neurons, emotions, and so much more. The most fascinating thing about the gut though, isn’t it’s processes of even what REALLY is in that mysterious place, but just how much it matters for so many other aspects of your body. ... Like hormones, for instance: Vitamin D, CCK, PYY, GLP-1, GIP, and 5-HT are regulated in the gut. It’s role in metabolic function( like insulin, fat storage, and glucose storage) are key players in the very basics of hormone health It’s role in the endocrine system by synthesis of said hormones. The gut holds so much power for our healing ( cue sacral chakra?) and it doesn’t stop at microbial balance and hormones. It is JUST the beginning. Learn about all of this and more in my signature Program: The Microbiome Method. Enrollment for January is open! Pictured: Me soaking up all that Vitamin D because my favorite way to get it is not by supplements but via the skin! Should I talk about the gut skin connection next?!

Ah, Ferment Myths. My favorite topic to debunk! Myth #1: Ferments double as a probiotic Myth #2: Ferments are terrible for those with SIBO, Candida, and other bacterial /fungal imbalances ... Myth #3 Ferments are a trendy non essential health food Ferments are *often* a probiotic rich staple food that our ancestors relied on as necessity and one that even today still provides essential nutrients for our bodies and our gut biome. Myth 1 Debunk: Ferments aren’t strain specific which means they don’t replace your probiotic however they do enhance it as they do provide a variety of unique strains. Microbial diversity = Health Myth 2 Debunk: Not all ferments contain yeast. NOT ALL FERMENTS CONTAIN YEAST. In fact most ferments are home for many beneficial bacteria ( which help keep yeast in balance) Myth 3 Debunk: Ferments have been around since the Neolithic age and was essential for our ancestors. I consider them essential now. For example, fermentation helps make nutrients more readily available which is perfect for those experiencing gut dysbiosis + enhances the health of any organism. I’ll be answering your questions in my stories today on ferments, any more I should address? Let me know in the comments
