Make sure to list all of your assets in your Will, even physical things like your jewelry. Even if it’s intellectual rights or digital assets. When you start to accumulate assets, having a well-written estate plan could help you avoid leaving your loved ones in limbo through the course of their grieving process. Make a list of the items you want to pass on and be sure to make a note of where important documents are stored. The last thing you want is your loved ones getting stuck in probate over your belongings, or worse yet- what happens if they can't track down any relatives or old friends to find out where all that stuff should go? So, make a list.
Your passing is one of the most difficult things to think about. You don’t want your passing to be a significant burden on a loved one. The whole idea is to keep your Will handy, so people know your wishes when you pass. Provide written instructions with your loved ones, and give them to multiple people, or let your loved ones know where your instructions are before you pass. By doing this you will keep your loved ones in the loop about your burial wishes and after-death wishes.
Thank you to all of those who risk so much for our safety.
We talk a lot about estate planning, but what is the history of estate planning? Estate planning has been around for centuries and had to do with Governments and feudal systems taking back land after death. And later in history, when moguls built businesses that greatly affected the local economy and passed away, the question was who got the business. Was it important for a family member to take care of the company, or was it better for a government to take over? Would you want the government taking over your family business?
