When the weather gets hot, the County usually directs seniors in need to air-conditioned cooling centers such as libraries and shopping centers. However, unde...r the State health order, those places are now closed. Seniors without air conditioning at home who need to cool down during the days ahead should call the County’s Adult Protective Services Hotline toll-free at 1-877-565-2020. County staff will bring fans to their homes or even put them up in air-conditioned hotel rooms. If you know a senior who might need help, please check on them. The 29 Palms Community Food Pantry wants to thank everyone who has helped us these past few weeks. Your support and assistance has helped us to continue providing emergency food assistance to the residents of 29 Palms, Wonder Valley and the Marine Base. Together we are strong.

USDA UPDATE: We are seeking additional volunteers on Monday 3/16 at 530pm to pre pack bags for the monthly USDA food giveaway. We will pack 336 grocery bags to feed 168 families. Please message us if you are interested in helping. We will still be handing out food Tuesday 3/17 at 9am but it will already be bagged and we will only be allowing 5 people in the building at a time. I encourage everyone to get there early because we may run out before our 11 o’clock closing time.

Tonight a young film maker from 29 Palms showed us a very real picture of homelessness in our country. Thank you Josh Hayes for helping us all see the problem just a little more clearly. Hopefully we will all move one step closer to a solution. The Board of Directors at the 29 Palms Community Food Pantry, our volunteers and our patrons thank you for the donations made tp our Pantry at the screening of your film. Thank you to the community who attended.

The Pantry is closed due to road closure. Datura is closed at the wash. We are looking out for the safety of our patrons and will check daily. If you have any questions please post here and we will get right back to you. We will reopen as soon as the road thru the wash is cleared.

The 29 Palms Community Food Pantry is looking for volunteers on Monday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30. Volunteer provide Emergency Food Supplies to members of the community from the pantry shelves. Please call Lori at 760-900-1169 if you would like to help.

Divine Harvest Farms filled the Pantry fridge with fresh tasty vegetables from todays Farmers Market in Twentynine Palms. Thank you Jerico. And Thank you Roger for bringing this Market to 29 Palms! And a special shout out to Linda and Daniel at the Blue Gecko Bakery who again this week donated bread to the Pantry. But before we are through with this post I want to thank everyone who stops at the Pantry booth at the Market.
