shop talk : brake fluid ..as important as it is to get on down the road safely , its equally important that your able to stop safely and for furthermore cost effectively . Like any other Fluid "brake fluid" reaches thermal and viscosity breakdown and sure will work but will keep you on the edge of your seat per-say and keep your car in the shop ruining the longevity of all that money you spent on brake work.. here is a chart with the different types of brake fluid and their... properties .. and some examples of whats involved with servicing the fluid "properly". a friend came to me by my suggestion needing a brake flush .. now in this case just siphoning the fluid out , filling the reservoir and bleeding , would simply not do! your paying usually an hour labor for this so "insist" that they remove and clean the reservoir and then proceed with the service as directed . this will for a fact make that "why the hell did my brakes only last 40k to last much longer say 60k~80k depending on your driving habits . some critical thinking for today... Now first and foremost if you were not even aware your car or most cars have drive belts (do not attempt this) but a hypothetical : say your on your way to Black rock? or a road trip to parts unknown and a fan belt or any other type of V~Belt breaks what could you do ladies ? couple's ? cd's? YES INDEED you can shed your hose (panty hose or stockings) and use it as a temporary belt.. Not to just mosey on down the road like its prom night but to get you there YES .. Critical thinking ! http://youtu.be/2K2TTTo6vIk

a "quote". from consumer reports : ON TIRE INFLATION AND PRESSURE GAUGES, Keeping your car tires properly inflated is an easy maintenance chore that's vital to your safety. Under-inflated tires build up excess heat as you drive, which can result in tire failure. With too little air pressure, tires can also wear faster and unevenly, waste fuel, and negatively impact the vehicle's braking and handling. To help maintain tires in top condition, use a tire-pressure gauge to check... the pressure of your tires at least once a month(Enigmatic Mech says: Bi~monthly or with rapid temp changes outside more often) and before starting on any long trip. For an accurate read, make sure the car has been parked for three or more hours before checking the tire pressure. Tire-pressure gauges are available at auto-parts stores, big-box stores, and other retailers, as well as online. We have found in our testing that good gauges for consumers typically cost $5 to $15. Keep the tire-pressure gauge in a protective sleeve, as cleanliness will ensure its longevity and accuracy. If a gauge is old, worn, or dirty, OR IT HAS BEEN DROPPED!, it may not be reliable and you should get a new one. For the nominal cost, it is a wise investment.

Its true Austin ! The NHTSA has its own website , you will not receive a large amount of cooperation from most of the Austin area dealerships.. and if you bought the vehicle used or third party you will receive no notification from the manufacturer.
