1 Corinthians 4 New Revised Standard Version The Ministry of the Apostles 4 Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. 2 Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. I do not even judge myself. 4 I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. 5 Therefore do not pronou...Continue reading

1 Corinthians 3 New Revised Standard Version On Divisions in the Corinthian Church 3 And so, brothers and sisters,[a] I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but rather as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for solid food. Even now you are still not ready, 3 for you are still of the flesh. For as long as there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not of the flesh, and behaving according to hu...Continue reading

1 Corinthians 2 New Revised Standard Version Proclaiming Christ Crucified 2 When I came to you, brothers and sisters,[a] I did not come proclaiming the mystery[b] of God to you in lofty words or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I came to you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. 4 My speech and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom,[c] but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,...Continue reading

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 New Revised Standard Version Christ the Power and Wisdom of God 18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,... and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart. 20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save those who believe. 22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks desire wisdom, 23 but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength. 26 Consider your own call, brothers and sisters:[a] not many of you were wise by human standards,[b] not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to nothing things that are, 29 so that no one[c] might boast in the presence of God. 30 He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 in order that, as it is written, Let the one who boasts, boast in[d] the Lord. Psalm 70 Prayer for Deliverance from Enemies To the leader. Of David, for the memorial offering. 1 Be pleased, O God, to deliver me. O LORD, make haste to help me! 2 Let those be put to shame and confusion who seek my life. Let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who desire to hurt me. 3 Let those who say, Aha, Aha! turn back because of their shame. 4 Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let those who love your salvation say evermore, God is great! 5 But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay! See more

Amos 8 New Revised Standard Version The Basket of Fruit 8 This is what the Lord GOD showed mea basket of summer fruit.[a] 2 He said, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A basket of summer fruit.[b] Then the LORD said to me, The end[c] has come upon my people Israel;... I will never again pass them by. 3 The songs of the temple[d] shall become wailings in that day, says the Lord GOD; the dead bodies shall be many, cast out in every place. Be silent! 4 Hear this, you that trample on the needy, and bring to ruin the poor of the land, 5 saying, When will the new moon be over so that we may sell grain; and the sabbath, so that we may offer wheat for sale? We will make the ephah small and the shekel great, and practice deceit with false balances, 6 buying the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals, and selling the sweepings of the wheat. 7 The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Surely I will never forget any of their deeds. 8 Shall not the land tremble on this account, and everyone mourn who lives in it, and all of it rise like the Nile, and be tossed about and sink again, like the Nile of Egypt? 9 On that day, says the Lord GOD, I will make the sun go down at noon, and darken the earth in broad daylight. 10 I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head; I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and the end of it like a bitter day. 11 The time is surely coming, says the Lord GOD, when I will send a famine on the land; not a famine of bread, or a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD. 12 They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD, but they shall not find it. 13 In that day the beautiful young women and the young men shall faint for thirst. 14 Those who swear by Ashimah of Samaria, and say, As your god lives, O Dan, and, As the way of Beer-sheba lives they shall fall, and never rise again. Psalm 67 The Nations Called to Praise God To the leader: with stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song. 1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us,Selah 2 that your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth.Selah 5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. 6 The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us. 7 May God continue to bless us; let all the ends of the earth revere him. Operation Christmas Child This Wednesday, November 4 For the sixth year in a row, Faith youth will be participating in this great ministry designed to share the love of Jesus by putting boxes of Christmas gifts in the hands of needy children all around the world. The process will be a bit different this year, but the tradition carries on! Here are the details: Youth will be packing boxes this Wednesday, November 4, from 6:45-7:30 p.m. in the courtyard. (We already have the sh...oe-boxes and tracking labels, so no plastic boxes or wrapping paper needed this year.) Here are some ways the Faith community can help: We need lots of goodies to fill the boxes! Click here for ideas of what to purchase ... and what items are prohibited. Drop off your items at the church before this Wednesday, November 4, at 5:00 p.m. We need shoe-box packers! This is a great event for anyone in the church to participate in. Come as an individual, or bring your whole family. Boxes will be packed in a socially distant manner. You can take some boxes "to go!" If you are not comfortable taking part in the packing event on the courtyard but would like to help, you can take some boxes home with you and pack them there. Email Pastor Brett and let him know how many boxes you'd like to fill. Packed boxes need to be returned to the church by Sunday, November 15, so that we can get them to the drop-off location on time. Consider donating towards shipping costs! If you are able to make a financial contribution towards the shipping costs, that would be a huge help. Each box costs about $9 to send. Checks can be made payable to Faith, with "Operation Christmas Child" as the memo. This is a great way to send the love of Jesus around the world and bring joy to children in need. Hope you can take part -- in one way or another -- in this fantastic event!

Amos 7 New Revised Standard Version Locusts, Fire, and a Plumb Line 7 This is what the Lord GOD showed me: he was forming locusts at the time the latter growth began to sprout (it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings). 2 When they had finished eating the grass of the land, I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beg you!...Continue reading
