Good evening Brothers and Little Sigmas, The General Fraternity's latest effort of returning our chapter to USD has failed. The Expansion Team of Sigma Chi presented all that was required of it. Unfortunately we were not selected again. It was hoped that we could build on the excitement of Delta Xi returning to SDSU and have all three SD chapters open again. The Province was in full support. ... The Grand Praetor wrote to me today "We received notice that they were pursuing another direction for expansion. Since then, the expansion team at HQ has reached out and is trying to get some feedback to see what we could have done better, and we will go from there." That's all we know for now. We remain near the top of the list for closed chapters to recolonize. It frustrates Headquarters staff and the Grand Officers. Sadly, it's been 14 years. They will not give up. Why don't they want Sigma Chi back?? I'll be attending Grand Chapter in June in Salt Lake City and will make inquiries of our leadership and seek ideas for us alumni. We will not give up. All I suggest we do now is have a kick ass reunion the first weekend of October ON campus to make our presence known. No reason we can't celebrate our common bond and friendship and have a blast. This means all of us support our cause by attending and not siphoning off some with off campus events for our members. Plan those gatherings after the reunion. USD Homecoming 2019 is October 4-5. WE WILL CELEBRATE OUR 35th ANNIVERSARY OF CHARTERING. Yes, 35 years! I will keep you posted should any information come forward. The Grand Praetor is our local ally and he is our representative. Information has arrived from Brother Mark Hoekstra: As some of you may know, Theta Lambda lost one of its founding members last week. Jerry Keeney graduated from USD in 1986. Same year most of the founding members graduated. Jerry will be missed by thousands of people in the many circles that he traveled, especially as a commercial real estate professional. Most importantly he will be missed by his children and other family members. He will also be missed and remembered... by his brothers in Sigma Chi. Rest in Pease Brother Jerry.
