October 28, 2020 Important Information for Students/Families Mensaje importante para estudiantes / familias... Greetings Eureka City Schools Families, Last night, the Eureka City Schools Board of Trustees met to discuss our learning model given Humboldt County’s recent change in COVID risk level from orange to yellow, the lowest level. After a lengthy discussion, the Board provided direction to offer a choice for in-person learning for grades Transitional Kindergarten through sixth grade. The Board asked staff to bring back these students as soon as practicable. As such, we have already been working on our plans to accommodate this direction. Parents of students in these grades will be contacted by their respective sites this week to start the detailed conversation on how and when the in-person learning model will be implemented. The Board also provided direction to allow clubs at Eureka High School to develop plans for safely meeting in-person for club activities. More information will be coming from club advisors at Eureka High School. Over the coming weeks, we will move from our current model of having a limited number of students in-person on our campuses to having many of our students on campus. As we bring back our younger students, we will be continuing to develop our plans for grades 7-12 to offer a choice for in-person instruction so we are prepared once the Board authorizes it. The Center for Healthy Communities within the California Department of Public Health has partnered with t...he Mexican Consulate to host a series of four COVID-19 Facebook Live events Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m. (60 minutes each). The target audience are the Latino and Farmworker Spanish speaking communities. The first event is scheduled for Tuesday October 20, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. Subsequent events to occur weekly thereafter on Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m. Topics discussed include: COVID 101, worker’s rights, contract tracing, testing, mental health, and disaster preparedness. The events will stream on the Mexican Consulate’s Facebook page on October 20 and 27 and November 3 and 10, 2020, at noon on each day, at Consulado General de México en Sacramento, California. El Centro para Comunidades Saludables del Departamento de Salud Pública de California se ha asociado con el Consulado de México para organizar una serie de cuatro eventos COVID-19 en Facebook Live los martes a las 12:00 pm (60 minutos cada uno).
