#TBT Asclepius Medical Building at 5120 J Street in #Sacramento. It was originally commissioned by local doctor, John Babich as a new office for his practice and medical suites he could lease to other medical professionals. As seen in photo, it originally featured a prominent sculpture by artist Helen Post. We are excited to announce that in addition to receiving California Preservation Foundation's 2020 Preservation Design Award, the SMUD HQ Rehabilitation also received the Trustee's Award for Excellence, their highest honor (chosen from a record-breaking number of submissions this year too)! Meet Simon. Our #Sacramento office has been part of a residential neighborhood since 1965, so we've had a long history of "adopting" neighbor cats, rescuing loose pooches from the busy intersection, and bringing our doggos into the office before it was cool. We are animal people. Simon is our new honorary office cat who lives somewhere in our neighborhood. He has vigilantly kept Santa Ynez Way under observation for the past few years but was always skittish when people appr...oached. With less staff coming into the office, Simon finally started to hang out in our backyard. Tessa, our office coordinator - who also happens to be a cat lady - seized this opportunity to make a new cat friend (and name him). After a few weeks of giving him treats (okay, chicken) he finally let his guard down! Simon is a very sweet cat who loves #bellyrubz and if approached slowly, will greet you with a quiet meow and head butt and then let you scratch him. All the cat persons around the office are happy to have a new feline to spoil again soon! Simon says: hi. #TBT Coffee Tree restaurant in #Vacaville, #California. In 1965 the Power family wanted a lower cost, quicker service coffee shop across the highway from their successful Nut Tree restaurant and recreation complex. In addition to the 140-seat coffee shop, Coffee Tree housed a merchandising area and gallery for displaying items the family collected during travels and works by northern California #artists. Coffee Tree was not unlike the Nut Tree which had a reputation for fine food, unusual merchandise and quality #art, #architecture and #graphics.
