I’ve been asked to share my process making custom mask fitters...so here we go! Download the Bellus3D app - @bellus3d - on an @apple iPhoneX or later model, it’s a face scanning app which they recently added a function that generates the frame design. The frame design is an STL file, basically a file you can 3D print. You export the file from the app by emailing it or texting it to someone. If you have a 3D printer you can print it. If you don’t, shapeways.com - @shapeways - is a 3D printing website you can upload the STL file and have it printed. Last week I had patients laughing in the dental chair, today seeing those same patients could land me in a hospital running low on supplies. As a dentists we are in the ‘very high risk exposure risk’ group to COVID19 identified by the CDC. And as an asthmatic, being infected could lead to a lethal pneumonia. Still, I will be there for all my patients and anyone who needs assistance. I consider it a professional duty and privilege to relieve patients dealing with dental pain.... I will do immediate virtual consults for those with dental pain and help our patients through this public health crisis. In order to protect those most vulnerable in the community, our patients, our staff, our families from COVID19 we have limited our dental office to treating emergencies only. It was an emotional moment for me yesterday seeing our staff leave after given orders to self-isolate and work from home.
