Food is sacred to me. Rather than trying to create a better resource, I've highlighted what I believe to be the most ancestral and satisfying nourishment tradition, which are the Weston A Price principles of diet. Simply put, we are meant to eat what is around us, based on the time of year. Seeing as we're in the shortest days of the year in the northern hemisphere, you need to honor your circadian biology and ask yourself "what is growing outside right now?" Could what you'r...e eating right now be picked off of a tree or out of the ground right now? The answer is most likely no (and definitely no if there's snow on the ground). How do I use this framework? Right now, I'm eating tons of animal meats and organs, bone broths, fermented vegetables, raw milk/yogurt/kefir, and pasture-raised butter and eggs. In the summer, I'll eat more leafy greens. If you're eating the same thing year-round because a book or a fad diet or a doctor told you so based off biochemistry or macronutrient density yada yada, then you're missing the big picture (and maybe the missing link) in your health. Circadian rhythm, sleep/wake cycles, and our light environment all work together as the biggest factor in our quantum biological equation, and if you're going to make any sort of change in your health, this is hands-down the biggest bang for your buck & return on investment (marrying sleep/wake cycles seasonally with nourishment). It runs completely contra- to our culture of blue-lit, screen-time, flip on a lightswitch 24/7 lifestyle, live the same lifestyle year-round and work 8-5 regardless of season, but it drives our innate nourishment desires (which is where I started this ramble). But hey, what do I know? Don't overcomplicate what you eat and how you live.
