Discipling Operational Christians aka DOC Outreach 24.01.2021

Member Allan Courtney was released and paroled to Victorville and because of prayer and his obedience to Jesus' Word, a miracle took place and he was given a 30 day pass to Sacramento (his support base is there) on his first report day at parole! That pass was extended and is now a transfer to Sacramento County. Some pictures of Anthony serving others. And of his baptism at Verity Baptist Church his first day out of prison!

Access to information creates wisdom - consider this funding request. This LSA organization does an amazing job keeping information flowing to those incarcerated.

New outbreak This morning’s figures showed a significant outbreak at a new location25 positive cases at Avenal. Also, new cases have been posted in staff whic...h is often a precursor of outbreaks in the inmate population. Currently there are 673 positive cases in the prisoner population. Prison by prison: CIM 451; CIW 107; CVSP 39; LAC 39; ASP 25; CMC 10 and CEN 2. In terms of staff, 4 reported positive at Avenal, none recovered or returned to work; CEN reports 13 with 3 recovered and returned to work; RJD 5 with 2 returned; SATF 5 with 3 returned and newly reported, a single staff at PBSP and a single report from COR. Over the term of the pandemic so far, CIM has reported 56 positive staffers, 34 of whom have returned and LAC 43, with 21 having returned. As to testing, we inquired at CDCR regarding the real number of tests done, not just the number with results returned. This is the response we received: We have been ramping up our testing efforts statewide, including beginning surveillance testing this week at all institutions. We expect to see more positive cases however, all surveillance testing is of asymptomatic patients. This is a good move, as it is the asymptomatic individuals who present as much danger to the overall population as those exhibiting symptomsthrough no fault of their own. As to intake resuming, we were promised this morning that details would be forthcoming, and true to their word, CDCR tonight released this information on intake Beginning the week of May 25, CDCR will resume intake from county jails in a very limited, controlled manner to the Reception Centers at North Kern State Prison (NKSP) and Wasco State Prison (WSP) only. Through June 19, CDCR will only accept intake from Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Fresno counties. It is anticipated that no more than 200 inmates will be accepted from those counties through June 19 NKSP and WSP will accept a limited number each week, with arrivals scheduled in a manner that allows for limited contact and increased physical distancing during processing. All arriving inmates will be offered testing for COVID-19 immediately upon arrival. Those who test positive will be isolated and treated according to CDCR/CCHCS treatment guidelines Inmates who test negative will begin the Reception Center process as normal Inmates who refuse testing will be quarantined for 14 days. The rate of intake and from which counties will continuously be monitored and evaluated as we move toward safely resuming normal operations. We also have indications that any changes to visiting will be evaluated after the department has a chance to evaluate what impact the incoming inmates has on the virus situation, before adding yet another layer to the possible complications. Andwe’ve also been informed the department has disciplined staff for not wearing masksas is always the case, those details are not released under personnel policywhich is standard all across the state, so no conspiracy theories need apply. So, keep sending us that information on non-compliant staff. Sadly, it seems the event that makes people the most compliant is an outbreakreports from inside AVE, CIW, PBSP and CVSP indicate staff compliance with masks suddenly increased. One more thingrecently a ‘news’ article appeared that was wildly alarmist in both its coverage and headlines. And I say news in quotes, because as a trained journalist I recognize sensationalism when I see it. This piece lumped all custody centers and levels, jails, federal facilities and state prisons together under a blazing headline of ‘thousands of California prisoners dying.’ Please don’t this shoddy piece scare you. It is true many have died, mostly in the federal system, also in some jails. CDCR has and is making mistakes in their pandemic response, but in perspective, they’re on the right path. If we expect to be taken seriously and our concerns and complaints taken seriously and investigated, we must be level-headed and realistic. We try. See more
