Predictions for coral spawning events in the Southern Caribbean for 2020 Based on last year’s surveys, a prediction is now available of expected times and dates... that some of the more abundant Caribbean coral species will release the next generation of corals during the annual coral spawning. The dates are only applicable to the Southern Caribbean. Be aware that the coral spawning remains difficult to predict and that this schedule of estimated spawning times provides no guarantees. To see the 2020-spawning prediction for the Southern Caribbean, click the link to download a pdf version of the 2020 coral spawning schedule shown below. http://www.researchstationcarmabi.org//SPAWNING-PREDICTION

Please support our dear friend and fellow Rotarian Dr. Haleh Shaheedy. She exemplifies Service Above Self and participates in all of our Rotary-International Missions. It's time to return the favor! Please share and support!

Special Thanks to Dr. Philippa Hardy. Philippa is a member of The Rotaract Club of Newport Beach. I had a difficult delivery today and she volunteered to help ...me navigate the reefs and off load the supplies. This is a Community that our Rotary Club serves with our Oral Hygiene Initiative so she has been teaching these children to brush and care for their teeth. We have had to postpone the program as all of the schools are closed here. Unfortunately, with classes cancelled, the children are not being served the healthy lunches provided by The Give and Surf organization so they asked us to deliver the food to the village. The Executive Director of Give and Surf is Emily Talentino who is also the President of the Rotary Club of Bocas Del Toro. We are VERY happy to help our Rotary partners. #ServiceAboveSelf

Hi All! For those that don't know me, I've been with Floating Doctors for just about the amount of time we've been in the Bocas area, and while I'm an intermit...tent resident, my heart has permanent residency. During this quarantine, FD is continuing to travel to the communities in the region bringing medication to individuals needing ongoing treatment, including contraception. With the immediate financial needs and uncertainty about the future, we feel it is imperative that we continue to provide the contraceptives to those wanting to prevent unwanted pregnancy. I'm making an appeal to you all to consider making a small contribution to our pharmacy expenses. Each depo shot is $10 and provides 3 months of protection. Of course, you will also be helping to provide medication for those with asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and many other ongoing conditions. There are so many immediate needs now in the region, and there will continue to be more as the situation evolves. We know just how special this community is in providing for each other and truly appreciate any support you can provide. Our PayPal account is [email protected] if that is preferable. See more

Ben Labrot is one of our strategic partners in Panama, a doctor whose field is global medicine and a Rotarian. This is probably the best article that I have read since the COVID 19 emerged. Please take a few moments to read it. You will be happy you did. Thanks Ben for all you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We would like to invite all friends to attend our next International Clinic in Bocas Del Toro, Panama. There is such a need here for so many of our Rotary Programs. We have special Scholarships available for Dental Hygienist and DH students, Oral Surgeons and Spanish speaking students and volunteers to help translate. Please contact Rotary President, Steve Bender for more details. This is also a great family project for HS students looking to obtain volunteer hours for school.
