Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Discount Tile Center! We hope you have an amazing day with family and friends!
Before you select a material you will need to decide what surface the tile will be applied. Tile can be placed as a backsplash behind a stove, or on the wall to the underside of the upper cabinets. Tile is a popular countertop material, and can also be used on the kitchen floor.
Don’t be afraid to ask sales assistants for advice; they may bring to your attention things you may not have otherwise considered.
If your wall or floor will require a lot of tile cuts (i.e. around fixtures/fittings), choose smaller tiles to give a better flow.
Don’t be afraid of color, which can also create some unique effects and environments in your home. Personal preference is the key.
See tiles as an investment, not a cost; never compromise on quality, which can still be picked up at great prices
Contrary to what your perception may be when you hear the word sealer, sealers for stone are all below-surface products and will not alter in any way, shape or form the original nish produced by the factory. They will not oer protection to the surface of the stone, either. They will only go inside the stone by being absorbed by it (assuming that the stone is porous enough to allow this to happen) and will clog its pores, thus reducing its natural absorbency rate. This will help prevent possible accidental spills of staining agents from being absorbed by the stone. Also, contrary to what you may have heard, there is no blanket rule when it comes to sealing natural stone.

Not all tiles are created equal. Well, they’re basically the same, but there are many small differences to consider when deciding the application intended. Tiles are a combination of clay, minerals and solvents that are shaped and sized and then heated to very high temperatures. At this point, the tile can just stay as is and is considered finished. It’s unglazed and without decoration. Without the glaze, the tile is very porous and, though attractive in a rustic way, it wouldn’t be wise to use it at this stage in areas where spillage might be common, like the kitchen. Glazing adds a non-porous element that’s usually impermeable and therefore good for all areas, including kitchens and baths, foyers and countertops. A good idea is to take this one step further and seal the grout around the tile so that it’s also waterproof.
It is very common for tile to be used in bathroom design. How do you make yours different so that it stands out in a unique and personalized manner? The most important thing is that you use your own sense of playful creativity to turn tiles on their sides and make them more fascinating. However, there are a few tricks that you can consider when rearranging your bathroom tile design. Pay attention to color, size and shape when choosing tiles. Don't just select a single tile bu...t instead find several different tiles that complement each other well. Create patterns and pictures with the tile. The bathroom is a small space. However, it's a space where you can make a big impact if you're afraid to take some risks. You can almost never go wrong with interesting tile!
