THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RABIES! 1. #Bats are the most frequently reported carrier of rabies (followed by raccoons and skunks). 2. Rabies is spread through contact, such as a bite or scratch. 3. #Rabies is usually deadly without treatment. It’s important to seek immediate medical treatment if you’ve been bitten or scratched by an unknown animal. Learn more about rabies at https://bit.ly/2GiV9sz

Vaccinating your dog against #rabies is required by law and has played a huge role in reducing rabies. It is usually spread by #dogs, #bats, coyotes, foxes, skunks, and raccoons to humans by an animal bite and once symptoms appear almost always deadly.

Part of being a responsible pet parent is making sure your puppy is up to date on vaccines. Ideally, puppy vaccines start at 8 weeks with 2 rounds of boosters 4 weeks apart. The final round contains a #rabies vaccine.

We still have vouchers available to help with the costs of spaying and neutering cats. Please share with anyone you know living in the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County. #spayneuter #lowcostspayneuter

We are no longer staging horses in Yucaipa, but both our shelters continue to provide a safe place for animals evacuated by the fires. Meet Hedwig, a super friendly black and white guy that loves to lean into being petted and Calico Cammy that is super sweet and calm. #ElDoradoFire #DevoreAnimalShelter ##bigbearanimalshelter

Meet Murphy! He's hanging out at the Devore Animal Shelter safely waiting for the fires to resolve so he can go back home.

These are some of our county’s #eldoradofire Fire evacuees resting comfortably at the #Yucaipa Equestrian Center. We are so glad they are safe and comfortable. Many of the evacuated horses are therapy horses from Yucaipa. @cityofyucaipa

Arsenio's 15 year old dog passed away a year ago. He still missed Teddy, but with the encouragement of his daughter, he was ready to open his heart again. When he saw Alexa, it was love at 1st site and he wanted to adopt her, even though she was injured. Today they are both happy, healthy and loving life. A pawsitively amazing adoption story. Thank you for adopting from Devore. #AdoptDontShop #DogsAreFamily #DogLover
