Good morning, EUSD Families. Thank you for your patience during this extraordinary time. We recognize that parents, children, teachers, staff members, and admin...istrators have worked to adjust to this temporary new normal. In our conversations with state and public health officials, it is apparent that this closure may last well beyond our original projected return date of April 14, 2020. Classes will resume when both state and health officials notify us that it is safe to return. Over the past few days we have been able to pivot our focus more fully on distance learning. In the first week of this rapidly changing crisis, our primary focus was needed in the areas of health, safety, and nutrition, and we provided as many academic and social-emotional resources as possible. K-8 grade-level learning materials for the week of March 30 through April 3 will be available online for those families with internet access. You may access these materials using your personal computer or tablet, and, as a reminder, EUSD students in grades 3 through 8 have access to their district-issued iPad to support their at-home learning. We encourage older siblings to share their iPad with their younger K-2 siblings. If your child left their iPad at school, please email your school principal to coordinate pick-up. For families that do not have access to a computer, tablet, or the internet, printed packets will be available for pick-up at your school sites from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 27. These packets are designed to provide a week’s worth of learning opportunities. EUSD is continuing to develop additional distance-learning opportunities. Details will follow from your principal and/or teachers. Please understand that the materials being provided are not a complete replacement for traditional school. Unfortunately, there’s no substitute for the in-person connection of our classroom communities. We would like to leave you with two important reminders: The district’s free to-go meal distribution continues from 11 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at Central, Juniper, and Rock Springs elementary schools; Del Dios Academy; Mission Middle School; and Escondido, Orange Glen, and San Pasqual high schools. Please pick up meals at the school site closest to your home. Meals are provided for students 18 years and younger. California remains under a stay home order. Everyone is required to stay home except to get food, care for a relative or friend, get necessary health care, or go to an essential job. It is extremely important to follow the protocol to curb the spread of COVID-19. Do not hold get-togethers of any size; if you can stay home, you should stay home. Thank you for your support.
