Follow me on this one..The Atlantic spotted dolphin is kind of like a deer, but in Benjamin Button-mode. They have no spots when they’re born and could be confused with a bottlenose dolphin. As they age, the spots slowly appear and get darker. If I could Benjamin-Button something about growing older, it would be the gray hair. It’s slowly creeping in with every year, and I think I would have looked awesome as a kid. Instead of a silver fox, I woulda been a silver kit.

I painted this frigate bird in 2016 and it hasn't flown very far since. It's still "floating" in our living room, and it's still not for sale - but I realized that I've never shared a picture with the finished frame. If you've never heard of the frigate bird, they are crazy efficient fliers and with can spend months up in the air. They ride thermals and wind currents to use less energy, but to those of us watching on the ground, it looks like they are floating in mid-air. So, I thought it was fitting to make this "floating" driftwood frame.

A work in progress is a beautiful thing. Like our country, and like ourselves, a work in progress holds hope that with more patience, more persistence, and more hard work - we can become more perfect. Cheers to a new chapter in our shared story. Now let’s all get back to work.

Cheers! And thank you, you. You - you’re still there, still reading what I have to say, and seeing what I have to show. Thank you for being a cheerleader or a consumer, or both. And thank you to all who wished me a happy birthday - it was. I celebrated number thirty-three with a homemade bloody mary, my amazing wife and awesome dog while sitting on a bluff overlooking this endless expanse. In a word, it was perfect. I am truly blessed.... But, one of the troubles with growing older is knowing that it’s not endless. There’s a bottom to that ocean and an end to these days. And while I’ve spent a many of mine making things - whether it’s paintings, speeches, or videos - I feel like I’m just getting started. But, if I’m lucky, I’m going to make more things tomorrow. So, thank you in advance for still being there and for helping us make this world a bit better everyday - I don’t say it often enough, but I appreciate you and I love you, whichever you you are. Cheers, Tim

Bears have always been one of my favorite animals. I think it's because my parents brainwashed me into liking them them by calling me Tim-Bear as a little kid. I even had a Winnie-The-Pooh stuffed animal that I carried around for years. A few years ago, I found it interesting when I heard someone talking about a philosophy book that uses Winnie-The-Pooh characters to explain the basic principles of Taoism to Westerners. Later that day, I went out and found The Tao of Pooh b...y Benjamin Hoff. In a nutshell, Pooh’s philosophy of being effortless, calm, and working with the natural flow of things saves the day. It also includes enjoying your fill of honey, in other words, living in the moment and stopping to smell the roses. With that in mind, painted this bear to be slightly more yellow than the blonde of the bear I used for reference. The real bear is named Sadie. I took photos of her a few years ago at the Minnesota Zoo. here’s a bit from their website: Sadie was an orphaned cub when she was found near a landfill in Kotzebue, Alaska, and rescued by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Officials named her after nearby Sadie Creek. She spent her first two years at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) until she moved to the Minnesota Zoo in 2008. Despite her smaller size.Sadie is the dominant member of the group (at the MN Zoo). I thought this was the perfect picture to use for this painting. Only, I thought it was fitting to have her stop mid-stride to smell, not roses, but Alaska’s state flower, the mountain forget-me-not. Forget-Me-Not Bear 10" x 10" Oil on Canvas SOLD

Thank you everyone who jumped on our live auction last night! Steph and I had so much fun selling these five paintings, plus the 2 hour live-painting of a Tasmanian devil (just out of frame.) We are looking forward to it again in the next few weeks! See you then
