Please consider supporting Protect The Harvest this Giving Tuesday - They are working to educate and inform all of us about the activities of animal and environmental extremist groups that are working to change our way of life. A big part of that is dictating what we can eat and pushing to see the end of animal ownership. This includes owning and competing with horses. While these groups often seem too on the "fringe" - unfortunately, they are making progress. They have... banned rodeo events in California and pushed legislation impacting the production of animal protien products. This has impacted the cost of milk, eggs and pork in California, Massachusets and Washington State. To learn more about Protect The Harvest, you can visit their website www.protecttheharvest.com and check out the tabs "What You Need to Know" and "Initiatives." See more

Over my career, I have really enjoyed teaching young children to ride and show horses. Many of my students have become world champions and others have become very successful professionals in their own right. Along with learning how to ride, being involved with horses and showing teaches kids valuable life skills; respect, good sportsmanship, work ethic, and how to be responsible, to name a few. I have youth riders in the barn now and am available for lessons - haul in or with some of my wonderful lesson horses. It doesn't matter if you are not planning on showing. Call me at 805-440-4097 and come join the fun! This is an album that you can click through to see pictures of Cantleberry Kids over the years.

If you are interested in contributing to an animal organization that directly places animals, please consider Homes for Animal Heroes. They place research dogs in new homes once they are retired from service.

I am a lesson horse. I am a horse that isn’t as recognized as the top hunter jumpers, the best western pleasure horse, or the 1D barrel horse, I am a lesson ho...rse. I am the backbone of the foundation to do all of those things. I am a lesson horse. I am not loved by one person. I am loved by several people. I don’t have my person, I have my people. I am a lesson horse. I will teach your child and yourself more than just to ride. I will bring your child out of their shell. I will teach your child about life. I will be yours and their shoulder to cry on. I am a lesson horse. I will bring my family the joy of teaching kids. I will bring my families business growth. I am so loved by my family, even if they don’t express it everyday. My family allows others to show me love and enjoy me. I am a lesson horse. At the end of your childs’ journey on a lesson horse, they will out grow me. They will find one that jumps higher, a horse that is show quality, a horse much faster than me. But, I will never outgrow being a lesson horse. I will be the one that loved your child and helped your child grow into the rider and person they are. I am a lesson horse. At the end of my time as a lesson horse; I will be covered in grey hair. Each grey hair came from each hour I spent as a lesson horse. I will be in a field of green grass, I will be taken care of as I was when I was a lesson horse. I will watch your child from across the pasture love her new horse. But, I will love your child more than any horse can. I will be the backbone of the business, the family, and your child. Don’t forget about me, I am a lesson horse. I am a lesson horse. *stolen from a friend *

JUST OUT FROM AQHA **AQHA Ranch Trail can be Offered in 2020 AQHA Shows. This is separate from the VRH Ranch Trail... **Horses can earn AQHA points in this class, the same as AQHA Ranch Riding **Thanks to the AQHA Executive Committee, Staff, Committees and Supporters that helped to make this happen. Letter from Justin Billings, AQHA, to AQHA Professional Horsemen: Dear AQHA Professional Horsemen, We are excited to share information with you about six new classes that are currently in the testing phase at AQHA! During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the AQHA team worked diligently to improve the AQHA exhibitor experience. We focused on implementing classes that were member-driven initiatives voted on at past AQHA conventions and were on hold pending computer programming. The AQHA Show and IT departments are excited to move forward with these much-anticipated classes for our members. Before we share the news with our members in a couple weeks, we wanted to share more information about the classes with you. Please note, we will notify you once the classes are completed and ready to be implemented at upcoming shows. The new classes are: Working hunter under saddle Western dressage Ranch trail Ranching Heritage Challenge cutting Ranching Heritage Challenge working ranch horse ages 7-&-Up. Timed trail (only available in China) The additional classes will allow exhibitors from English, western and ranch-horse disciplines new options to compete with their American Quarter Horses. After the programming for the classes is completed, they may be offered at AQHA-sanctioned events once shows resume as local, state and federal coronavirus mandates are lifted. The six new classes will also be eligible for year-end high-point awards in 2021. View the class descriptions that will be added as a supplement to the 2020 AQHA Rulebook. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the class descriptions to assist with questions the membership may have when the information is released. If you have any additional questions, please contact the show approvals team at [email protected]. We will compile your questions into an FAQ to share with you at a later date. We are eager to share more information on these new classes with the membership as testing is being finalized and greatly appreciate your assistance with the launch of these highly anticipated classes! Thank you, Justin Billings AQHA Chief Show Officer

Wake up rural California- Animal extremism is upping the ante. They start with events like the Santa Cruz County Fair because they have a voting base that is now separated from rural and agricultural life and therefore easily mislead. You all need to make noise - whether you live in SC County or not.
