SUMMER CAMP STARTS MONDAY! We still have spots if you are interested, for week 1, 2 or all 3! Week of July 29th, the multi-talented HANNAH ROMANOWSKY (also founder of Danceversity) will be teaching our youth CAJUN ZYDECO dance - Learn to boogie Cajun-style! Zydeco and Cajun music and dance are fascinating fusions of French, Native, and African creole culture from the southern state of Louisiana - and a true expression of multicultural America. Campers will experience traditi...onal partner dances associated with these rich and evolving traditions, while also learning about American history and culture. To learn more about Hannah visit www.scheherazadeschool.com Week of Aug. 12th, her partner TOM MAYOCK is returning to teach our youth Jazz. Tom As a dance educator Mr. Tom shares the values of how the dance arts enables positive risk -taking, creativity and collaboration. As an movement artist Mr. Tom’s signature approach combines old-school jazz-ballet with contemporary movements. Every dance-show entertains and then illuminates specific thematic content. The Bay Area would not be what it is without dance artists like Chonkie F Tutz. His dedication to his craft and to his community is so visible and we are so thrilled to have him join our DanceVersity faculty this summer, bringing the intricate and mind-blowing art of "tutting" to our youth during week 2 of our summer camp: Aug. 2-5. Also secretly hoping to learn the basics of the "Smeeze" by the creator himself. REGISTRATION IS STILL OPEN FOR our summer camp that begins July 29th and we are still offering 50% off our summer camp registration through groupon! https://youtu.be/Qw61EV4Ww7Y

WE ARE BEYOND EXCITED - Our Summer Camp is just 1 week away (starting July 29th). GET YOUR 50% OFF SUMMER CAMP registration through Groupon - a few spots remain! An important part of our world dance education at DanceVersity is giving our youth an opportunity to engage in art-making that gives attention to other cultural elements that give meaning to the dance formbe it a percussive instrument, a fan, an ornate headpiece, or a splash of blue sash! REGALIA, although not as prominent in Contemporary dance, is very much part of many dance traditions around the world. Here are some examples for dance traditions of Summer Camp 2018!
