PICYA in conjunction with the Treasure Island Museum held the Unity Parade this afternoon in recognition of the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition held on Treasure Island. Yachts from the Classic Yacht Association led this parade. It was a clear day with winds 12 to 14 knots from the Northwest. Participating classic Motor Yachts; CALIFIA - 1937 36' William Holly Flush Deck Launch; SKAL - 34' 1928 Stephens Brothers Boat Builders & Designers; and AURORA V - 58' 1969 John Trumpy & Sons Coastal Cruiser. PICYA was very appreciative of Classic Yacht Association's Northern California Fleet's participation.

Grindstone Joe’s Island Update! Crews jumped on task and replaced the old corrugated steel roof that blew off last week with winds over 60 knots. Some speculate that those panels are now in Kansas.

I received word yesterday of Dick Stephen’s passing. Upon hearing of his loss I was overwhelmed with emotion as Dick and my friendship developed when I lost my... own father, and he unknowingly filled a void in my life. Dick and I shared a lot in common besides both being sons of the San Joaquin Valley and #209 Proud. We shared a love of boats and an appreciation for the quality and style that a boat designed and built by Stephen’s Brothers had. Most of which were designed by Dick himself. Besides being one of the worlds best marine architects Dick was a cattleman and rancher and regular visits with him and Donna were never short on things to talk about. He was my North Star for all things Stephen’s and the Stockton community, our state and nation are better for his and his family’s life work. This confident, quiet, humble son of California became world famous for the artisan hand made quality and style a boat built by Stephen’s Bros represented. Rest In Peace Mr. Stephen’s! See more

History was made tonight; the Northern CA Fleet of the Classic Yacht Association installed its 2021 Flag Officers and Bridge virtually at it's 41st Annual Change of Watch Ceremony. Staff Commodore Bernadette Sweeney, new Commodore Rob Sesar, Vice Commodore David Cobb, Rear Commodore Daniel Hunter, Corresponding Secretary Nancy Clothier, Recording Secretary Erika Hammarlund, and Treasurer Bill Adams. Thank you Bernadette Sweeney for being 2020 Commodore in a very extraordinary year.
