Isn't it a wonderful comfort to know that there is a race marked out for us? Today our #PrayerPals are praying perseverance for their partner families in the midst of that race, but what a blessed thing to pray for ALL our family and friends.

What a glorious, life-changing thing it is to live in the peace that only Jesus can bring. What a privilege to pray that for each other today... #prayerpals

"A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory; and in his name the Gentiles will hope." Matthew 12:20-21

On this day the whole world celebrates love, let's continue showing our love by praying for each other. Today, our #prayerpals are praying for an attitude of kindness - a wonderful expression of love.

With all that is swirling around us in the world, this passage of Scripture provides us with the ultimate anchor. Christ's authority is absolute, demonstrated clearly and understood at the time - make sure to remind yourself of this comforting truth this week, and feel free to share it with a friend who may need the peace that comes from really understanding Jesus' words and actions in Matthew 9:1-8. https://youtu.be/jr5pzp8W3gk

It's that time of the year... (And watch out for shifting service times too!)

Please join us this morning - live at 8:30 a.m. or on our YouTube channel thereafter - as we look at one of the great encouragements for God's people: understanding Who it is that we worship. We serve a God who is just and merciful, Who is holy and perfectly faithful. We understand that God's authority extends to every aspect of His creation. As we have moved through the 8th chapter of Matthew, authority has been the consistent theme. We have seen the authority of Jesus Chris...t in His teaching, over disease, and over the physical elements of creation itself. As we finish Matthew 8 this week, we will be reminded that the authority of Jesus extends over the spiritual realm as well. When Jesus casts out demons, what does it demonstrate with regard to that authority and why is it so important to the gospel writers that we understand that? What is it that even the demons know that the disciples have not yet come to understand? https://youtu.be/XY1gTn1o-68

This morning we welcome Jason Beals to the pulpit to help us think through the powerful reminders in Psalm 46 of the power and protection of God on behalf of His people, a strong statement of what God promises to do, and a might indicator of how that should impact our lives today. Join us in worship and in the Word! https://youtu.be/TTeycfn2rc4

This week we come to one of the most well-known stories in the life of Christ; Jesus calming the storm. But what does this have to do with the authority of Christ? What do these verses reveal about Jesus and about those who are following Him? Join us to be reminded of some timeless truths about God's sovereign care! To prepare your hearts for this Sunday, please read Matthew 8:23-27. Please join us - and if you cannot be with us in person, livestream begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, and is available thereafter on our YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/1HPgs0btqf8

The Demands of Discipleship Welcome to October Chapel City Church! What a year this has been for all of us. As you move into a new month, please let us know how we can be praying for you or ministering to you. We understand that with constant uncertainty can come additional burdens, be they financial, emotional, or spiritual. We would love the opportunity to pray with you and for you, and to remind you of the precious truths found in God's Word. In Chapter 8 and 9 of Matthew ...we are reminded of the great power and authority of Jesus Christ over all aspects of creation. Last week we saw three miracles, and this week we have a response to those miracles. Two men approach Jesus and claim that they are ready to follow Him. His answer helps us to understand something about the demands of discipleship, and the cost of following after Christ. https://youtu.be/9XpFjSp4cmw

As we continue through the Gospel of Matthew, this week we come to Matt 8:1-17, and encounter the King's Power - join us as we look at the authority of Christ as it relates to creation itself. We will see his authority over the physical world and over the spiritual world. We will see his authority over sickness, disease, and even death. And we will see that this authority is another means that Matthew uses to prove that this Jesus is exactly who Matthew claims Him to be. He is the Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, and the Son of God. 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning for the livestream - or anytime thereafter on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/vUANCJBoRTw
