|Happy Healthy 2020| Dear Friends & Healing Community, I am back!... It is my tremendous pleasure to let you know that I am back to practicing acupuncture with enthusiasm, eagerness, and additional knowledge. The truth is that I never truly left my practice as I was and still am taking care of clients here & there but the Universe humbled me and helped me learn about self compassion and compassion for others while going through a healing crisis due to chronic illnesses. As a health care practitioner in Oriental Medicine, I thought I would have learned everything I needed to know in order to heal chronic illnesses. Oriental Medicine is a beautiful medicine that integrates body, mind, and spirit. And it turns out I needed to learn more truths behind my myriad of chronic symptoms and how to heal. This is, most likely, why not long after opening my new acupuncture practice back in 2017, I entered my healing crisis. I finally got answers for some of my autoimmune disorders such as asthma, allergies, and severe eczema, as well as other chronic symptoms. And because of my background and how I have chosen to heal, I now understand more than ever that our bodies are always working for us. |Welcome Summer 2018| . The weather is hot and the sun is out! . Summer is the most yang of the seasons and is associated with the heart fire ... . The color is red, the emotion joy, and its a time for growth, expansion, light, abundance and is the manifestation of all we have been cultivating throughout the spring. . Did you know that in TCM, the heart houses the mind, our spirit? . Therefore summer is a great time to nourish our spirits, realize our life’s potential, finding joy in hot summer days and warm summer nights. . It is a great time to cultivate the yang energy but not in excess because heat injures the heart blood (spirit) . Some indications of heart imbalance are palpitations, insomnia, mania, mouth ulcers, speech problems, red complexion and more. . Here are some tips to help you with summer: . Drink plenty of fluids Wake up earlier Go to bed later Smile from your heart Meditate and Qigong Rest at midday . Summer is about abundance, and this is definitely the case with foods. . The best time to have raw foods to cool you down . Try these foods (fyi red fruits and vegetables are usually good for the heart) . Watermelon Cucumbers Tomatoes Grapes Strawberries Cherries Apples Lemons Salads Summer squash Sprouts Etc... . Welcome Spring 2018! The long-awaited change of winter to spring. Seeds sprout, flowers bloom, and the sun warms the earth. There is a sense of renewal and new life around. While winter was time to conserve energy and reduce activity, spring is a time of regeneration, new beginnings, and a renewal of spirit.... It is the ideal time for cleansing and rejuvenation for overall health and well-being. As spring is represented by the wood element and includes the liver and it’s complementary organ, the gallbladder, these two organs are usually the primary targets for springtime cleansing and health regimens. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the liver is responsible for the smooth flowing of Qi (energy) throughout the body. When the liver functions smoothly, physical and emotional activity throughout the body also runs smoothly. So for optimum health this spring, move your Qi! Here are a few tips: Stretch: According to Chinese medicine, the liver stores the blood during rest and releases it to the tendons during activity. Try yoga or Qigong. Eye Exercises: The liver is connected proper eye function. Remember to take breaks from the screen. Eat Greens: Green is the color of the liver and springtime. Eating young plants, fresh, leafy greens and sprouts can improve the liver’s overall functions and aid in the movement of qi. Outdoor activity: Outside air helps liver qi flow. As the liver gets quickly congested, frustrating and anger arises. An outdoor activity helps to smooth out that liver congestion. Enjoy milk thistle tea: Milk thistle is a potent detoxifying herb that can help to aid the liver function, manage cholesterol, prevent cancer, and lower blood glucose levels. My beautiful friends, the Acupuncturist in me highly recommends you to give yourself the gift of watching this documentary. It is so refreshing to have a movie that integrates different ways of healing. Different from our very Western minds and health system of if you don’t feel good, take a pill which is starting to be very disturbing and money talk!! It’s time to step up and take ownership of our bodies/different bodies we have (emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual)!
