Today I had the pleasure of delivering the truckload of Christmas gifts donated to the Bill Lund memorial services this past year. The family had requested that everyone who attended the service bring a toy for a child in foster care. Knowing how tough Christmas can be for children in foster care, we saved them all for Christmas. (Thank you Michelle and Tom Moore!) There were footballs, basketballs, Barbies, baby dolls, art kits, puzzels, books, and live size dolls. There wer...e games and toys for babies, and play kitchens and play workshops. Everything you could imagine.! Such a thoughtful idea! Who would have thought we would need this kind of donation more than ever this year with the 2020 COVID pandemic. I combined those toys with the donation of headphones from Rotary, and the gifts from CASA from the Humboldt Area Foundation grant we just received. Each child got a warm flannel blanket. Most of the items went to the department to distribute and some will be distributed by the assigned CASA advocate. Today, I dropped some by my CASA's home. When I arrived I could hear the 3 kids yelling "she's here open the door" Foster mom was saying "NO! don't open the door unless we know it's not a bad guy." The ages of the kids are 4-7... I heard someone yell "she's not a bad guy, she's a good guy!" I got 3 big hugs and it sure did make my day! I love my job so much! -Christine, Executive Director

Thank you so very much Wild River's Foundation and all the donors for supporting our community during the holidays. There's so many organizations doing amazing work. The virtual holiday reception was brilliant and I loved hearing about all the great efforts going into our community.
