It's nice to see the housing market heat up, but not too much, which will result in inflation. There's a happy medium that we must maintain.

REMINDER: Today, December 15, is the deadline to submit Phase 2 debris removal documentation or sign a Right-of-Entry form. Residents submitting ROE need to include a copy of their government-issued ID, a copy of their insurance policy declaration page and debris removal coverage page, and, if applicable, Trust or LLC documents. Additionally, if a burned vehicle is located on the property, a copy of the vehicle insurance must also be included. Completed ROE forms or documenta...tion of a private contractor agreement should be returned to [email protected] or submitted in-person to the Sonoma County Environmental Health Right of Entry Processing Center at 625 5th Street, Santa Rosa no later than 5 P.M. this evening. The holidays, coupled with additional Stay-At-Home orders, have created a tumultuous time for North Bay residents, especially those who have suffered loss during this fire season. CAL Custom Building Services continues to extend our hand to those in need of help during any, and all, steps of their rebuild process. We can be reached by phone at (707) 579-9088 or online at www.calcbs.com. Happy holidays and wishes for a better New Year. #sonomacounty #sonomastrong #fireseason2020 #GlassFire #LNULightningComplex

The month of December is busy every year. Celebrations, charity, shopping, and endless amounts of holiday baking is at the forefront of most minds. But this December is especially busy for those who lost their property to the Walbridge, Meyers, or Glass fire. December 15th is the deadline to submit documentation regarding your chosen course of action for Phase 2 cleanup. It is important to remember Phase 2 is not a free service like the mandatory Phase 1 sweeps. If you sign ...a Right-of-Entry (ROE) form, you will not be charged upfront, but the state will garnish your insurance settlement in the future. Hiring a local, private contractor is an option as well. Contractors are trained in proper debris removal and follow the strict federal guidelines to protect your property and the environment surrounding it. If you have not already contacted your insurance provider to discuss settlement figures, now is the time to do so. Inquire about how much of your policy is set aside for demolition costs to make your best-informed decision. If your policy allots $120,000 for demolition and you solicit a quote locally for $70,000, you have $50,000 left to put back into your rebuild. If you chose to sign ROE, the state will take all $120,000 from your settlement. Every policy is different. Contact your insurance, get your figure, and shop it around. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out at (707) 579-9088. Our phoneline is open from 8:00 4:00 P.M. Monday to Friday. We are here to help.

The Glass Incident has been burning for 8 days, scorching 65,580 acres at the time of this posting. Containment has jumped to 30%, triggering evacuation downgrades and full expirations. This is all wonderful news for Sonoma County. As evacuations are downgraded from mandatory to warning, or from warning to expiration, re-entry is at the forefront of most minds. When re-entering a burn zone, it is of the utmost importance to follow city and county guidance to make re-entry as ...safe as possible. When re-entering your property, you should: Re-enter during daylight hours to avoid any potential dangers, such as damaged traffic signals or downed wires. Wear proper protective equipment to avoid getting ill from wildfire ash. This means eyewear, gloves, N95 mask to filter out particles, long sleeved shirts, long pants, and closed toed shoes. Leave children, elders, and pets elsewhere until your home is safe and free of hazardous materials. Refrain from removing any debris yourself, as this can lead to potential harm or illness. Contact a hazardous material clean up service to safely remove debris. Wash your hands often, even when wearing gloves. For more information on City of Santa Rosa or County of Sonoma re-entry guidance, please visit https://www.calcbs.com/fire-rebuilding. #GlassFire #glassincident #sonomacounty #napacounty #FireSeason2020

The Glass Incident roared from 11,000 acres to a grand 42,000+ acres in 24 hours. There is no containment and fire crews have worked tirelessly since the start of the incident. On a positive note, there are no new evacuation orders for the City of Santa Rosa. No previous orders have expired or downgraded, but the lack of new orders shows optimism for our community. Hopefully, we will be able to return to our homes in the coming days to week. The County of Sonoma, Sonoma Coun...ty Sheriff’s Office, and Santa Rosa Police Department work in conjunction with local fire agencies, Cal Fire, and the United States Department of Forestry to determine when it is safe to lift evacuation orders. When it is safe to return home, it is crucial to remember to: Return to your home during the daytime, as power may not be restored yet and visibility can help you avoid hazards like nonfunctional traffic lights, missing roadway signs, downed lines, or debris. Be cautious and alert, especially if your home is close to or in the burn area. The Earth takes a long time to cool after a wildfire, so the ground may still be warm or steaming. Wear protective coverings over your eyes, mouth, and nose when investigating your property for smoke damage. Smoke particles can settle deep in the lungs if inhaled, so N95 masks are recommended to filter out particles. Wear proper clothing if dealing with ash. Long sleeves, long pants, gloves, and closed toed shoes are recommended. Wash your hands and skin immediately if exposed to wildfire ash. Report damages and loss to your insurance company. Consider your options of rebuilding if you suffered the loss of your home. We will get through this fire season together. #glassincident #GlassFire #fireseason2020 #sonomacounty #napacounty

The Glass Fire began at 4:45 AM on September 27th, 2020 in St. Helena. Yesterday saw faintly smokey skies and an elevated air traffic volume. There was no danger to the valley floor. Overall, it was yet another beautiful Sonoma County day amid the California wildfire season. Everything changed after the sun went down. The Boysen Fire and the Shady Fire cropped up along the eastern side of Sonoma County, running faster than children for an ice cream truck to the Santa Rosa ci...ty limits. As of this posting, the entire eastern side of the City of Santa Rosa has been evacuated and Cal Fire has condensed the Boysen and Shady fires into the Glass Incident. It is extremely important to know your evacuation zone, listen to emergency personnel who show at your door to give you a warning, and have your important items ready to go. Leave when told to leave, do not delay. If you have not done so already, sign up for Nixle to receive up-to-date alerts by texting your zipcode to 888-777. The County of Sonoma has their own emergency website with additional information about evacuation orders, shelters, and temporary meeting points. The County also has information pertaining to evacuations during the time of COVID-19 for those who need it. Santa Rosa, we are here for you. https://socoemergency.org/evacuation-update-2/

As we approach the 3 year anniversary of the Tubbs and Nunns fires on October 8th, it's important to remember your fire safety plan. -Do you have a meeting point with your family in case you get separated? It's recommended to go to an open and paved place like a parking lot or fairground. -Do you have a go bag prepared for when Nixle alerts ping on your cellphone? If not, the San Francisco Fire Department has put together a list of necessary items. Keep your phone b...attery charged and the sound on, especially at night. The loud chirp of alerts could be the difference between life and death. -Do you have gas in your car? It helps to always have at least a half tank of gas in case you need to evacuate. Already having gas means you can skip those hour-long lines of panic pumping and get to safety faster. -Do you have a plan for your animals? Leaving your pet behind is traumatic for you and them. For household animals, have a clean animal carrier with a disposable bathroom pad waiting near your prepared go bag. For livestock, having an easily accessible trailer can lead to a faster loading process. If you absolutely cannot bring your animals with you, have the number of the closest animal rescue presaved in your contact list. Always remember to be vigilant, smart, and Sonoma Strong.

Natural disasters and accidents can happen at any time. San Francisco Fire Department Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) created a handy checklist of what to keep in a backpack, or small bag, in case you need to leave in a hurry. It's best to keep a bag like this packed at all times, but especially during peak disaster times such as fire season. Stay prepared and stay vigilant. #FireSeason2020

Red flag warnings, evacuation orders and smoke-filled days have become unfortunate yearly events for those who reside within California. Sonoma County has been ravaged by five major fires in less than three years’ time. Currently, we’re in the midst of the deadly LNU Lightning Complex with our neighbors in Napa, Solano and Lake counties. Firefighters battling the Walbridge Fire in northwest Sonoma County had another successful night, halting the flames’ forward progression an...d increasing containment to 17 percent as of 7 a.m. Tuesday. Containment lines are being held at the northern end of Lake Sonoma and into parts of the Dry Creek Valley. The Walbridge Fire stretches west of Highway 101 near Healdsburg to King’s Ridge in upper Cazadero, and north of Rio Nido to Lake Sonoma. As of this posting, the fire has burned 54,503 acres. For those who have tragically lost their home in this fire, or the fully contained Meyers Fire along the Sonoma Coast, we express our deepest sympathy. We hope you and your loved ones are safe and will soon find temporary replacement shelter. As President of the North Coast Builders Exchange https://ncbeonline.com/ I’m proud to announce our organization will be assisting homeowners in the near future (as we’ve done in the past with the Valley, Tubbs, Nuns and Kincade fires) on guiding homeowners through the rebuilding process. Stay tuned for updates and stay resilient; We will help you get through this. #LNULightningComplex #WalbridgeFire #MeyersFire #SonomaCounty #SonomaCountyFireUpdates
